Hello,

i have a question. I bought some domain names from some sellers (all domains are with other registrars) and i initiated transfer. All domains were unlocked and i received Auth Code for all. Now for some domain names , the sellers received “Transaction ID” and “Security Code” and forwarded to me. For some others they didn’t received and i only had to put “Auth Code” with Godaddy. Is this normal? Is the process different from Registrar to Registrar (when tranfering to Godaddy? Thanks

All domain name transfers purchased through us will require a Transaction ID and Security Code. We send these codes to the Administrative Contact of the current domain holder. If the current domain holder did not receive these, they might have an outdated email address listed for their domain. Once they review and update the domain’s Administrative email address, you can have those codes resent. This article provides some additional details regarding this matter:

Dear Garry,

thank you for your reply.
No, its not about outdated admin email.

The Domain Name now has following status with you:

Status:
No action required: Processing approval
Recommended action:
We’re waiting for approval from your previous registrar. This will take up to 5-7 days for completion. These time frames are estimates and not guaranteed.

But the starnge thing is that i did NOT mentioned the Transaction ID and Security Code with you. This happend BEFORE i even could fill in Transaction ID and Security Code with Godaddy.

Could it be that my seller (the person from whome i purchased the .info domain name) Clicked on something in his email and that therefore i don’t need to mention Transaction ID or Security Code?
If you can, please look in my account : Domain Name : Stadtreisen.info for instance.

Thanks

I would not be able to investigate a specific domain name. If you have questions relating to some specific domain transfers in your account, it would be best to get in touch with our support teams. Our support teams would be able to review your account and the domain transfers with you in greater detail. Our support teams can be reached 24/7 through the following URL:

Hi Garry,
well i talked to some people and this is a bug in Godaddy system and since few months Godaddy was not able to fix this bug. I am not going to go into details publicly because of security issues. But Godaddy needs to fix this transfer bug SOON.

Taking a look at the domain name Stadtreisen.info, I see that this domain is currently registered through us. When you contacted our support teams were they able to resolve your issue with the domain transfer?

Additionally, please keep in mind that some CCTLDs do not follow the normal transfer process. If you were having trouble with a particular transfer of a certain CCTLD, can you clarify the domain name you were having trouble with?

Garry, thats what i am talking about. I was able to transfer Stadtreisen.info to me WITHOUT mentioning Transaction ID and Security Code. Normally ALL names transfered to Godaddy from other Registrars, need 1) Transaction ID 2)Security Code, 3)Authentification Code.

This is a security issue. Now i am ok with it, because i bought the names and now they are in my account. But nontheless ,this is a BUG and a security issue. Forward this to Godaddy.

Regards,

If you purchased a group of transfers at the same time, the whole group of transfers would use the same Transaction ID and Security Code if the Administrative contact was the same. Based on what you described, it sounds like Stadtreisen.info might have been in the group of transfers being authorized with one set of Transaction ID and Security Codes. If you contact our support teams, I’m sure that they would be able to confirm this for you.
