I have set up an email account with godaddy e.g
name@companyname.co.uk …. I dont have a ‘domain’ however and only want to use an email address – do i still need to get the domain companyname.co.uk for the email address to work?

Yes. Email will not work without an active domain. The domain is where the DNS is held and indicates the mail servers you are using.

Because the registration is new, DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate, however it should be ready in a couple of hours.
