SOPA

It has come to my attention that GoDaddy.com is supporting the SOPA bill currently being considered by congress. This bill will cause censorship and loss of freedom of speech rights and I oppose it. As a result I will be forced to take my business to another company if you can’t reconsider this policy. I will also spread the message through social networks and other outlets that GoDaddy.com supported SOPA.

We’ve listened to our customers. Go Daddy is no longer supporting the SOPA legislation.

Maybe not SOPA, but according to your press release your attitude has not changed.. “will continue to do so in the future”
I must take my business elsewhere.

Are you going to show support for stopping SOPA to help undo the damage you have done alreaady by signing the bill ? And what actions are you going to take to prove to us your customers that you truly are not supporting it and you are in support of stopping it ?
I think posting publicly on ALL your Pages that you do not support SOPA and offering links for people to help the cause to stop SOPA would show you in true support of stopping the SOPA .
From What I am reading on all the major social networking sites is tranfer all domain because no one trusts your company to be telling us the truth and that you will are not just saying this to save the oh mighty dollar .
People are still going to be transfering all domains unless you take action
and taking a aggressive step to support the SOPA may be the only way for you to save your business I await your reply and ACTION or concider our long term relationship over and I will be removing all my domains as well .
Sorry but you need to do better then just pull your support you need to help stop it to end this disaster

I agree with the others here whom find this convenient announcement not enough. Godaddy needs to put its weight behind defeating the SOPA bill. I am so disappointed in GoDaddy I see no other recourse than to take my business else where in demonstrating my displeasure.

Two words. Damage control.

Too Little Too Late – Any fool would have known from the start that SOPA was not what it was advertised as and never supported it. Mea Culpa after the firestorm is just some weasel lawyer trying to un-ring the bell.
No more business from me ever – And I was a pretty profitable customer since I purchased SSL Certs which I think are 100% profit for you all – no more!

Godaddy I would like to thank you from removing your name from supporting this. However we have seen in the past that companies say they will stop doing things only later to find out that they are trying to do it again but in greater secrecy.
I hope that whoever it was who made it so go daddy supported this is removed from the company and that it never happens again, or I will be removing business.

I have ~60 domain names and some SSL Certs with you guys.
If you don’t change your attitude on this issue I will be taking my business elsewhere too. You need to come out and fight with us on this. Listen to your customers not your 1% buddies.

Nice try Adamr, but having your CEO and chief counsel release a backpeddling carefully-crafted public statement after you started losing a ton of business just doesn’t cut it. Personally, I find it unbelievable that representatives of GoDaddy would suddenly and completely drop all involvement with legislation that they were instrumental in creating …because yes, not only did GoDaddy support SOPA, they practically created it.
The web community likes the internet just the way it is …with no BS. If you don’t share the views of your customers, then you won’t have any.

You may have flip flopped your stance on SOPA, but you are still supporting PIPA, which is just as bad. Why are you blocking me from transferring my account ? You have lost my trust, and I want nothing to do with GoDaddy. Open my account so I can transfer my account and be done with you

I also have several domain names hosted with you guys – and I have friends and family that use GoDaddy as well.
While I am happy to see that SOPA support has been dropped, I am still considering taking my business elsewhere. ***Please discontinue support of the Protect IP bill as well.***
While I am no fan of copyright infringement, I am also no fan of censorship in the form that it would take with each of these bills.
Perhaps if you would like to fight Piracy you could support a bill such as OPEN. It is not perfect, but is much better than ProtectIP or SOPA.
I hope to remain a customer, but in order to do so I need to know that GoDaddy is just as committed against web censorship as it is against web piracy.

Is GoDaddy still in support of the Senate version of SOPA, called the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA)? If they are I will still leave and transfer all my services and Domains away from them. I will also influence my clients to move away as well.
come on GoDaddy, let freedom ring.
