I’ve just switched from Vista to W7, and from Vista Mail to Windows Live Mail.
I’ve set it so that I can receive email, but am getting an error trying to send mail.
Outgoing mail (SMTP)is set to smtpout.secureserver.net.
Log on using clear text authentication option button is selected.
Outgoing Mail Server / My server requires authentication check box is not checked.
Outgoing Mail (SMTP): Port is set to 25
This server requires a secure connection (SSL) is not checked.
Error message is:
—-
The connection to the server has failed.
Subject ‘test send’
Server: ‘smtpout.secureserver.net’
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10013
—-
Your help getting this working would be appreciated.

davide,
I recommend trying the alternate SMTP Ports in your email client settings. Try using 80 or 3535 in place of 25 and hopefully this will resolve your connectivity issue.

Thanks.
I switched to 80, and also checked Servers/Outgoing Mail Server/My server requires authentication.
And selected the option: Server/Incoming Mail Server/Log on using authenticated POP (APOP)
Everything is working now.

Correction.
Server/Incoming Mail Server/Log on using clear text authentication
is the correct option setting.
