Problem with hosting

Hi, sorry for asking a stupid question but this is the first time I have used Go Daddy for hosting.

I have purchased a domain and the hosting both with Go Daddy and used the Wordpress option for my site. All has gone well apart from linking my domain name to the Wordpress site. My domain name is http://www.microchip-catflap.com/ but I can only view it through http://microchip-catflap.com/wordpress/

When I try to go via the http://www.microchip-catflap.com all I get is the “coming soon” message.

Am I forgetting to do something?

Help please.

Thank you.

Marion

@mazb

It sounds like you installed WordPress to a folder instead of the root. When going through the install there’s a option to install it in a directory. For safety reasons it’s pre-filled with /wordpress. If it was blank by default someone might overwrite their root content if they have anything there. To fix this, you have to uninstall WordPress and install it again, this time making sure to take /wordpress out of that field. These will help you get through it:

Many thanks Justin that worked a treat.

I thought it had to be something stupid that I did. I won’t do that again in a hurry!

Thank you again for your quick reply and help.
