i downloaded the file and have tried to install. seems to get “stuck” sometimes at 4, 5, 6 or 8. Can’t get further, please help.

I experienced the same problem yesterday while trying to install Workspace Desktop on several computers. The one XP machine installed it with no problems; the two Windows 7 system did exactly what you said, it would hang up at “Section 12 of 23″, etc. I ended up canceling the “hung” install, going to Task Manager and killing all WorkSpace activities, then starting it over (and over, and over) again. It would always pick up on the section where it had hung, and finally move on to the next section. Just due to persistance, I finally got both Win7 systems installed. I suspect it might be something in Win7 security, although I ran both systems as admin…

I have Mac OS 10.7.2 (Lion) on a Mac Mini. It looks like the install works but I cant open the program, it just wants to send error reports.
Any fixes known or time to give GoDaddy the heave ho for a more compatible online backup solution?

Have the same problem even with windows xp machines. On the Windows 7 machines it would hang at different % on different machines until I killed it and started it again. I even tried saving the exe and running it in WinXP compatibility mode with no success. On one of the machines it wouldn’t even show the envelope on the taskbar. It does not show up in Add/remove programs either. Had to track down the uninstall file in the workspace directory under program files. It uninstalled the services, but did not remove all the files from program files.
Please provide solution for no icon on taskbar.
Very frustrating.

Same problem… brand NEW Windows 7 build on a NEW Dell Laptop… tried to install Workspace Desktop 6 times to the new laptop and failed! Install hangs up on step 6, 7, 8, 11, etc. HELP!

Hello,
I have webmail as my official mail acount for my company. I have installed Starfield Technologies Desktop Tools software so that I get notification about new mail sent to me. The specific service file “offsynctray.exe” which is a part of Desktop Tools is being detected as a threat to my PC by my antivirus software. I run Windows 7. and in my c:program file (x86) there is a folder “workspace” in which above mentioned service file is stored and this folder I feel is created after I installed Desktop Tools of Starfield Technologies. Any idea if this service file is a real threat to my privacy & my system?

That file is part of the Desktop Tools. We have tested these thoroughly to make sure they are safe for your local computer. I’m not sure why your anti-virus would flag this file.

I had the same issue with McAfee anti-virus stopping “Starfield Technologies…”. It was recognized as a trojan. I had to disable McAfee while I loaded the desktop. That was on a Windows XP machine. I’m having the same problem as sited above installing Desktop Tools on a Windows7 machine.
