Company account with multiple users for Online Stg sharing?

On the Online storage adding a Colaborator is easy. Having the employee/customer pay for the access to the company files after the trial offer is over is an issue. Our company files must be secured via a sign-on method, so the public link is not an option.

How can we, as a very small company, add users to specific files/folders securely? How can we limit their access to certain files/folders? How can we control this access? Is there a business package that can provide multiple sign-on users? Is there a company Admin/user package? These users would only be accessing company files/folders so they would not need to create folders, although they would need to create files in some locations.

You would need to add the users as collaborators to have all of the functionality you outlined. Each of the users would need their own Online Storage account.

With only one Online Storage account, you could use the password feature within the ‘public link’ option to give certain people access to specific folders within the Online Storage account. However, these users would not have the ability to upload files to specific folders within the Online Storage account. The users would have to use the ‘Dropbox’ feature to add files to the Online Storage account.

As a Collaborator we would have to ask the customer/employee to pay for their own Online Storage account to obtain access to our specific files. Why would they want to pay for something that benefits us (the company) and not them? Since we cannot directly pay for the employee/customer, we cannot us this functionality.

We currently have free email accounts where we transfer information. Why would we want to switch to a drop-box? We are trying to eliminate having one person administer all the files/documents that come in/go out. There are some folders that need read only, there are other folders that need update access. According to your documentation Drop-box cannot provide that flexibility.

Would be nice to have something like a “business account” where we could provide access to just our files for our employees/customer’s with collaborator access.

I was looking for a similar solution. I need to be able to store and share photos with a sales rep. I pay for a bulk email account, there should be an option to add online file access to each of those emails as I see fit. That way those that need to have only emails can have that, while those that need access to shared files (convenient to upload/access from cell phones on the run) could be granted that access as well. Why would he pay for that!?

I agree with the other posts. I was told when purchasing the online storage that we would be able to allow third persons to access files stored online, by making them collaborators. I was NOT TOLD the third persons (my clients) would have to PAY for access! As currently configured, this is a fairly useless product. We have been using Skydrive, which does allow folder by folder access control for third parties, FOR FREE. Unfortunately we will just go back to that until this changes (if it ever does).
