File Size Limitation?

@mr_squiggle
At the time of that post(# months ago), I did post inaccurate information. We have clarified since then that the upload limit is 1GB.

Are the limits different for Trial Accounts? I have file uploads that repeatedly fail (some DLLs). I’m trying to figure out a common characteristic and one possibility is size, the ones that fail SEEM to be over 400K. But I’m really grasping at straws here.
scsmath said 11 months, 3 weeks ago:
I just started with this and asked support about the file size issue. I was told there is no limit if you use an ftp client to upload the file.
JasonP said 11 months, 3 weeks ago:
@nlk3470
The trial accounts do not have limitations. what process are you using to upload the files?
@scsmath
I apologize for the mis-information. The upload limit is 1GB per file, or a total of 1GB if uploading single files in bulk.

But on your site ( http://www.godaddy.com/email/online-storage.aspx ) you clearly state there is no file size limit. 1GB is ridiculously low for this day and age.
JasonP said 11 months, 2 weeks ago:
@apexmods
The actual size of the shared folder is only limited by the size of the account. At any one time, the max upload limit is 1GB. I apologize for any confusion.

so the unlimited file size sharing that is advertised is incorrect? I just signed up and have multiple video files over 1GB. This service is useless to me now if it is 1GB upload only -whats with that? how dod i get a refund?
JasonP said 11 months, 1 week ago:
@agurney
Refunds can be requested directly with our Support Team. Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Are you planning to update the information on https://www.godaddy.com/email/online-storage.aspx? You’ve obviously been made aware of this issue and yet it still states that the file size limit is “Unlimited” and that one of the features you offer is “Unlimited Sharing°. Both for the number of files AND the file size.”
The “°Subject to plan storage space limits” fine print doesn’t seem adequate as this implies that the max file size is the same as the max storage size.

http://www.godaddy.com/email/online-storage.aspx clearly states that the file size is unlimited… contrasted with their competitors that have limits of 1GB, 4GB or unlimited… GODADDY… get with it and fix this!

Hello everyone,
I work directly with the Online Storage development team and would like to clarify on the topic of file size limits, as there appears to be some confusion.
The Online Storage product supports files up to 2GB in size. This size limit is supported across the board; we don’t limit your ability to share files via collaboration or public links, provided that the files have already been uploaded to your account and do not put you over your allocated account quota.

To weigh in further on the other topic of this discussion: On the topic of shared file size limit, what we mean by this is that we won’t limit how much you can share. Provided that you’ve already uploaded a set of files that meet the 2GB limit and don’t put you over your account quota, you can share as many of them as you want using the product’s collaboration and public link features. We are in the process of updating the “Ours vs Theirs” comparison on our website to make our intentions more clear.

Jason, We have the 100GB online storage. Are you saying if we are backing up a single file over 2GB it will not work? I have pushed file groups larger than that and it does go up, VERY slowly, but it goes. We have several files are over the 2GB size that we intend to backup on the Godaddy service. Is this going to be an issue moving forward?
Thanks for posting on this.
JasonAM said 10 months, 3 weeks ago:
@jack4402,
Our supported limit within the Online Storage system is 2GB. Historically you may have been able to upload files exceeding that limit through the website or FTP, but we don’t fully support files above that limit. Going forward you may or may not find you can continue to upload files above 2GB.

Thanks Jason. And thank you for “taking the heat” on the obvious misleading information. We will look for another solution elsewhere. If anything changes in dev for Godaddy Online Storage, let us know and we can look at where things stand at that time.
