I want to set up QOS on my router.
What IP range, TCP/UDP ports are used for the Desktop Tools service?

@mr_squiggle,

You are not able to connect through a port or IP for Workspace Desktop Tools. However, the option to connect via FTP and upload/download files may be an option to consider:

I’m not sure if you fully understand what I want.
I have multiple PC’s that backup to the online storage using the Desktop Tools Service. I have DSL and the upload speed is not the greatest so I want to configure my router for QOS and to do this you need the IP range and list of ports for the destination. I don’t want the uploads slowing down the rest of the PC so I want to prioritize the upload traffic to low.

@mr_squiggle,

To my understanding, the Desktop Tool uses the common ports for HTTP & HTTPS traffic, which would be port 80 and 443 respectively. The IPs are a different story, however, as the tool communicates with several products with multiple servers and such a list would quickly fall out of date.

Hi,
I ran the Microsoft Network monitor and found that desktop tools uses port 443 and connects to 216.69.186.142, which is what onlinefilefolder.com resolves to.

I noticed in the registry it adds ‘workspaceupdate.exe’ to the run key and this process runs, I’m assuming this is the process which schedules the sync of folders. It hadn’t shown up in Microsoft Network monitor yet again I assuming because the schedule had not run, I will leave Microsoft Network monitor running to see if I can pick up ‘workspaceupdate.exe’ connecting, I would assume it will probably connect on 443 216.69.186.142 too.

I added 443 216.69.186.142 to my QOS so I will see how it goes.

I also noticed the DriveMapServer.exe is using port 443 and 216.69.186.142

Ok, I found what the service and file name for the backups is called.
File Backup Service – offSyncService.exe
‘workspaceupdate.exe’ I would say is the process to check the revision of the Desktop Tools module versions.
Using Microsoft Network monitor and checking the PID(as the name shows unavailable) the File Backup service process uses 443 216.69.186.142:443.

The IP would only change if there was a DNS change, I would think the application would be using onlinefilefolder.com to resolve the IP and not hard code the address.

So if people want to add some sort of throttling or QOS they can use 216.69.186.142:443, This will cover the Scheduler, Desktop Tools and the Drive Map.
