Sync Folders Syncing All Files, Not Just New Files

When I use the “Sync Folders” feature on Workspace Desktop, it appears to be syncing all of the files in the synced folders, not just the new or modified files. Thus, syncing takes a lot longer and a lot more bytes than it should. Is this right? Thanks.

@rafael_santana, @dcurrey68,

Sync Folders should only upload new or modified files to the folder in question. If you all files are being uploaded during each update, you may want to check that your Workspace Desktop tool has been recently updated.

If the Workspace has been fully updated, you will want to remove the sync from the folder and then recreate the sync in Workspace.

Tried removing sync that uploaded everything. Have latest version of desktop tool.

Had a nasty virus wipe out one of my drive so I wiped system clean formatted everything reinstalled everything problem still remains.

Have a couple trouble tickets in still.

Same problem here. I’ve contacted support and they just keep sending me the generic instructions. I’m ready to cancel my account. If I can’t synch only changes it is pretty pointless to upload 30GB of files every day. I think the issue is that they change the file modified date online every time you upload a file so it never matches your local version.

I have exactly the same problem, running latest version of Workspace Destkop, i tried everything but each time i run the sync all files are uploaded again, and this is a big problem, i can’t sync 70Gb of data, i am expecting to sync only modified files! Hope technical support is reading this thread!

@Everyone

After reviewing this issue with our Advanced Support team, we will need you to replace your current version of offSyncService.exe with the following version:

offSyncService.exe (1.1 MB bytes) => https://www.onlinefilefolder.com/4sZk3XQeD5u9ql

Please follow these steps to install this and provide us with the appropriate log files for additional review:

1) Use the link to download the file
2) Go to /Program Files (x86)/Workspace
3) Rename the existing offSyncService.exe to offSyncService.exe_
4) Copy the new version into the folder
5) The service will automatically restart itself using the new version
6) Attempt your sync/backup, and send our Support Team the /Windows/offSyncService.log files that are generated (they may be large).

In the support form there is no way to attach a file and the maximum message lenght is 8000 chars. How che i send you the tail of the log file?

i created a small new sync folder with few files in it, every time i manually run the sync all files are re-uploaded even if none of them is modified, i then replaced sync service exe file with the one you gave us and manually run the job, i found the new log entries in the log file.

Folks –

I was able to solve this issue for myself by moving the online version of the synced folder out of the “Shared Folders” folder and into its own folder under the root “Home” folder. In other words, my synced folder is now just Home/Rafael instead of Home/Shared Folders/Rafael.

I think it was not “seeing” the “Shared Folders” folder, and so each time uploaded everything in order to sync.

The fix works for me too, but it appears to be a bug to be fixed, i did not have my synced folders under “shared folders” but under the folder named with my account, after i moved then on the root the sync process worked as expected

Seems to be working. My Documents folder finally synced without uploading everything.

It seems to be uploading pictures again. Had to FTP them already. But its only re-uploading what I had to ftp. Before it would just error out saying 2011 directory didn’t exists but it did.

Still not 100%. For some reason my pictures folder has 22 files scattered in 5 folders that keep uploading. This is out of 2183 total files and 217 folders.

Figured it out. It appears some of the photo were edited. The program that edited the folder saved it in the form of IMG_0011.jpg. Unedited version save it as IMG_0011.JPG. Online file folder had both version on it.

Seems this confused online file folder the lowercase .jpg keep re-uploading.

Just deleted both copies from online file folder. Renamed the extensions so they are all uppercase .JPG on my side and re-synced Uploaded all the files again since I did delete them but any more syncs nothing changed.

All seems good.
