Post Images not displaying when sharing Blog
littlemazzie said 1 year, 9 months ago:
Hello, ever since GoDaddy added the new Facebook and Twitter share buttons on posts, I cannot choose a thumbnail image other than the original template used to create my blog (Penmanship).
This template image is irrelevant because I’ve customised my template images!
Up until last week I was able to choose any image from within the specific post to display as a thumbnail. I have phoned your support team and even reverted the template of my blog to the original, and built it again, but it’s not working.
This is very frustrating because I write a Blog on Facebook Marketing, and as a ‘visual economy’ Facebook posts greatly benefit from images.
Choosing post image thumbnails to display was working fine until last week, please help!

@littlemazzie,
The addition of the Social Share buttons should not have had an effect on the ability to add images to the posts as found in Managing Posts in Quick Blogcast .
However, you may wish to contact our Support team so that they may review this further with our Advanced Technicians .

Ok, the addition of your FB & Twitter share buttons is a coincidence.
I have spent over 2 hours in total in the past week on the phone to your support team about this. They don’t know what the problem is and they have told me to post on the forum??

It sounds as though your template may be causing the issue. Have you tried to restore or change your template?
I understand your frustration with our support on this issue already, but like @sherrod, I would advise you to contact our Support Team directly so that they can access your project. A support ticket may be more helpful as you can include screen shots of the steps you are taking to assist in the troubleshooting process.

Hello, thank you for your post.
I hadn’t made any changes to my template when the images suddenly stopped working, but on the advice of your telephone support team I have reset my template and rebuilt it from scratch. This was a few days ago – and the problem persists.
Please will you tell me how I log a support ticket. Every support avenue I’ve tried so far with GoDaddy has passed me on to another department, so I’m hoping this will work.

Has this been figured out? I have spent hours on the phone with Go Daddy techs to no avail. I just got off of the phone with Ken, who said, “This is not a Go Daddy problem, you will have to research it and figure it out on your own. We are not here to trouble shoot those types of issues. Blogcast and Website Tonight are working properly.” So, I am confused, will Go Daddy provide assistance or is this just another concession that has to be made for choosing Go Daddy products?

Currently the Facebook setup pulls the first image that meets certain requirements. Here’s some information about how to format the image you want to show up, if you make your other images not meet these requirements then the first one that does will be the one displayed:
1. The thumbnail’s width AND height must be at least 50 pixels, and cannot exceed 130×110 pixels.
2. The ratio of both height divided by width and width divided by height (w/h, h/w) cannot exceed 3.0
You may want to review the following information provided directly by Facebook. It offers some additional methods and way to set a specific image through custom scripting:
http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like/
You can use the Facebook Linter to determine what data will be pulled from your site through the OpenGraph (OG) tags. The Linter can be found here:

I’m having the same problem with both my blogs. It is extremely frustrating. I don’t think it’s the size of the images. I think this because when I link back to the blog itself on Facebook and not a specific entry, I’m able to choose previews. (i.e http://www.absolutepoppycock.com instead of http://absolutepoppycock.com/2012/01/03/slowly.aspx) I think it’s this meta line:
<meta property =”og:image” content=”http://themes.quickblogcast.com/BlogTheme232/thumbnail/0.gif” />
When I copy the code, remove that line (and any references back to the original post that has the line in it), and post it to my own site, it works fine – I see the images from my post.
You can test it in Facebook with these two links:
Here’s the original post from Quick Blogcast:
http://absolutepoppycock.com/2012/01/03/slowly.aspx
When you try and post it in Facebook, you get nothing but the template image to choose from.
Here’s the same code, with the line removed, posted elsewhere:
http://www.graciesfamily.com/blogstuff/Mytest3.aspx
Now, I see the preview of the image in the post. Exactaly what I want. So, if
you could just take that one line out of the permalink page template or let us know how we could do it (I’ve tried adding a meta tag from the gui but it won’t let me add the Facebook ones), that would solve the problem. Also, if you could remove that “Here’s a post I thought you’d like”, that would be kind of cool, too, but that’s just a minor annoyance, not a complete show-stopper! ![]()
Thanks!

I am having the very same issue with Godaddy’s quick blogcast account. I submitted another ticket today.I contacted them months back and Godaddy said they could not help because it was a Facebook issue. That strikes me as a very odd attitude. Facebook is a huge company – they are not going to change code to work with Godaddy’s quick blogcast. It seems to me that Godaddy should be working to make sure that the quick blogcast is competitive with Word Press and compatible with Facebook. I even wrote Bob Parsons, Godaddy’s executive chairman, yet the issue persists. This is a much larger issue then just posting images to Facebook. Godaddy has allowed its quick blogcast to be come outdated. I wish I had gone with Word Press several years ago because now I am stuck with a Godaddy relic – an old ship lost at sea having to watch the Word Press shiny new cruise liners pass by with sold out voyages. ![]()

So glad to see other people having this same issue, I’ve been dealing with it for over 6 months and every time I talk to the support team at Godaddy I am told the same thing, it is NOT our issue it is a facebook issue.
My work around is to post the link to my blog in my status update and then add a photo.
I’m glad that Daphne has found the problem, now will Godaddy please just fix it?
Thanks,
Leah

I’m really disappointed by this and the fact that there is no resolution after all of this time. Frankly, it’s embarrassing to try to post a link to my blog on Facebook only to have the template image show up and not a picture from the article I’m linking to. No one else seems to have this issue. It’s really arrogant of GoDaddy to think that there aren’t other companies to switch to.

@alphamomfia
In order to specify which image is selected, you will need to use the appropriate open graph meta tags found here:
http://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraphprotocol/
In the Settings (Under Manage Blog menu) of your Blogcast, you can select Meta to add these custom tags. If you have this set properly are are still experiencing this issue we will need you to reply with your domain to verify the tags.

I’m fairly new to Blogcast and I just figured out how to let people “share” my blogs to facebook and, just as everyone is saying here, they can only choose the original template thumbnail. I said I would look into it but there appears to be no resolution. And now I read from timb that I need to change some sort of open graph meta tags? Wha?
There’s absolutely no reason for anyone linking to my blog to even access the original template image, yet, in addition to paying for the privilege of customizing our blog with images, we then have to edit source code to make sure people can access our own images? Ridiculous, embarrassing and unprofessional. With all of the problems I’ve experienced with godaddy’s blogcast, I should’ve gone elsewhere.

I too am about to lose my mind over this issue. I have used FB’s open graph protocol instructions and added each of the og meta tags using the add meta tag tool under settings in Quick Blogcast. Nothing. Not one change. I just want to use a single common thumbnail for each time I link a post on FB.
Can someone please help??
