I have a fairly simple goal in mind, but I have no idea how to go about implementing it. I want my breadcrumb links to keep displaying all parent categories, even when you select a subcategory.

Here is an example of what is CURRENTLY happening on my website. http://www.mycybersmoke.com

Here is an example of what I WANT to start happening on my website. http://www.mtnvapor.com
In this example, click on the “E-liquids” link, and any of the subcategories. “Mountain Vapor Custom Liquids” for example. When you click on that sub category, all the parent categories not related to “E-Liquids” still remain in view.

I basically would like the customer to be able to navigate almost the entire site just from that side breadcrumb nav bar, with the exception of the actual products themselves essentially. I tried downloading firebug from mozilla to see if I could figure out what I need to do with the CSS, but I’m totally lost.

Thanks ahead of time for any help!

You can adjust how many categories deep display in the sidebar by adjusting the ‘My Products’ widget. This article will show you how:

You can display up to 3 categories deep. If I misunderstood what you are requesting, please do not hesitate to post clarification of your issue. Thanks!

Ahhh see I never even realized that little pencil next to the widget was an edit button.

This almost solved my problem completely, but not entirely. Setting it to display 3 category levels, with the 2nd category always showing makes it so no matter what category level im in, all of the 1st level categories always show. Which is what I wanted. However…

I don’t want the 2nd category to always show. And turning that option off, makes it so the 1st categories ALSO don’t always show as well for some reason. Is there anyway to remedy this?

Let me try to be concise, since I know this might be a little confusing trying to read my vision through text.

1)I want the 1st level categories to ALWAYS show no matter what.
2)I want the 2nd level categories to only show IF i have clicked on that 2nd level categories parent category.
3)I want the 3rd level categories to only show IF i have clicked on that 3rd level categories parent category.

Also as a side note, is there a way to specifically organize the order of my categories? Instead of alphabetical?

There are no additional WYSIWYG tools to alter the way the categories are listed in the sidebar. You may be able to use custom CSS/javascript to achieve the look you want, but I’m not sure what exactly would need to be done to accomplish this. Hopefully other Forum users will be able to provide you with some suggestions.

Here’s an article that will help you organize your categories:
