Google product category question

To all who have posted to this thread,
I just wanted to follow up with some details about additional updates that have been made to the Google Product Search feature. Specifically the attributes for clothing and apparel which have just been added today. You should now see additional fields to be filled in for: age group, color, gender, and size.

One more thing. We have recently updated information in the following article that should fully explain how to setup the Google Product Search; including the usage of the new clothing and apparel attribute fields that were recently added. I hope this helps any member who is still learning how to utilize this feature:

I am thankful to the developers for the recent changes they made to accommodate Google’s ever-changing requirements.
A small suggestion: Would it be possible to include other Google-required attributes, such as “Item Group ID”, in that same section? Information accessible to Google, but not visible to the customers.
Thanks for your assistance.

@dragonsvault,
I believe our developers may already be looking into this for future. But I will definitely pass along the request to confirm interest in this. We appreciate you taking a moment to bring this up.
We will continue to further improve the Quick Shopping Cart to accommodate Google’s changing requirements. Again; if new information comes my way, I will be sure to follow up with details on the forums.

Just want to give a thumbs up to GD for finally getting this working. After getting the categories inputted into my products it is working just fine.

Relating to this issue, it appears that GoDaddy is somehow automatically copying my store catergories (which do not match google’s taxonomy) to the google category field for all of my items. This has now created an error in my datafeed because google does not recognize it and is preventing my store from appearing in google shopping- killing my traffic and my income. I have attempted to contact Godaddy tech support and as usual, get a generic answer to a specific question. I have tried re-importing my over 20K items with the google categories and the site times out even if I break it up (also not a new issue.) I am thoroughly frustrated with the level of service provided and wish I hadn’t paid for a whole year because every day I am not in google shopping is another day of income wasted…

@jenanne13,
I am sorry to hear about the issues you are running into with Google Product Feed.
I know a developer has just looked into this specific instance and has confirmed through multiple tests that products can be uploaded through the Excel spreadsheet and updated with the proper taxonomy information for the Google Categories. It seems what appears to be an automatic update is actually just a result from a import timeout, which unfortunately happens if the imported product list is very large. I know you have tried breaking it up into smaller lists to be imported, but you may need to break it up more if one of the files is still timing out.
I know the issue with imports timing out is a concern our developers are working on addressing in a future update. I wish I had more specific details to give on when the update is coming. But once some more information is brought to my attention, I can assure you we will update you through the forums.
