Trying to customize an email template

When an order has been shipped email is sent out, it is a little confusing for the customer to work out where the tracking number is, as the layout is quite shabby as the email comes in plain text format and not HTML. There is a vague layout of a table which has headings such as Qty, Item, Desc, Date Shipped and Tracking # – however the corresponding data below it is always skewed so it is hard to see where the tracking number is. Almost always the tracking number gets bumped to the second line so if there are multiple products bought (and shipped), each product gets a tracking number (not sure why this is as they are all shipped in the same consignment).
How do I either change the format so the email goes out in HTML (so the table is neat and tidy) or change the place where the tracking number is displayed.

At this time, you are only able to customize the introduction and closing of the automatic email notices sent out from the Quick Shopping Cart.
I’ll pass along a suggestion to our development team regarding the ability to adjust the format of the email notices. If any information comes to light regarding the offering of this functionality, I will post an update here.
