Static IP Addresses

Are there any restrictions on setting static IP addresses for our hosted servers? Basically, the out-of-the-box settings for the Windows 2008 server is setup to use DHCP. We would prefer to have static IPs.
Thanks,
Dan

Our Virtual Dedicated servers are configured with static IPs. If you have a dedicated server, you should be able to configure this as well without issue. If you’re receiving any errors, please let us know!

Virtual DataCenter machines come configured as DHCP, not static. One of the reasons we do this is so that if you make a template out of the machine it won’t have static IP info burned into the template. The DHCP server will always assign the same IP to a machine, so the configuration itself is basically “static”.
So we don’t recommend it, but there are no restrictions. You can change your machine to static (using the same IP/gateway/subnet/DNS as DHCP assigned to it) if you want and it will work.
