Outbound email delay
ben_spencer said 1 year ago:
The virtual dedicated servers I purchased use s2smtpout.secureserver.net as an email relay in the postfix configuration and it appears GoDaddy is blocking outbound port 25 as well. However, it seems the s2smtpout.secureserver.net server has capacity issues which result in the following error message for *hours every day*
status=deferred (conversation with s2smtpout.secureserver.net[208.109.80.210] timed out while receiving the initial server greeting)
This has resulted in delays for up to 2.5 hours for the email to be delivered to GoDaddy (observed in email logs). We are not a heavy email user so this probably could be worse that being observed during the development cycle we are in. However, we are specifically working on the email notification component of the email system and waiting 20..30..60…120 minutes for the email just isn’t feasible.
Is there some kind of limit (seriously, this is on a server sending < 1000 messages a day) or is this purely a GoDaddy capacity issue? Are there alternate email relays which can be used?
