Currently running PHP 5.1.6 and wondering what would likely ‘break’ if I manually upgrade? ie. mcrypt, pear, etc.

Also… is it fairly easy to downgrade if needed (as it will likely break some of my scripts) using ‘yum’ for example?

We have a great article with steps on performing the upgrade as well as user comments that you may want to review here:

Hope this helps!

Tried that earlier (link you posted) and did not work. Some msg/line after running yum about ‘Reducing blah blah’…

When I do a ‘yum search php’ though (not using that ‘CentOS-Testing.repo’ at all above). I see a bunch of php53′s…

If you are unable to upgrade your PHP version using the help article, I would suggest creating a Trouble Ticket for our server experts to review this issue and provide a resolution for you.
