Yum issues and downtime

My server has had really good uptime until about a week ago. Now it seems to crash roughly daily. Is there any known problem with the datacenters?

Also, I went to do a yum upgrade. PHP has some dependency problem that apparently is pretty common (see below). I think this is a problem in the godaddy repository and not something I can fix short of switching repos. Any advice?

php-cli-5.3.2-1.i386 from chl has depsolving problems
–> Missing Dependency: libedit.so.0 is needed by package php-cli-5.3.2-1.i386 (chl)
php-ncurses-5.2.10-1.el5.centos.i386 from installed has depsolving problems
–> Missing Dependency: php-common = 5.2.10-1.el5.centos is needed by package php-ncurses-5.2.10-1.el5.centos.i386 (installed)
libcurl-7.19.6-5.i386 from chl has depsolving problems
–> Missing Dependency: libssh2.so.1 is needed by package libcurl-7.19.6-5.i386 (chl)
php-gd-5.3.2-1.i386 from chl has depsolving problems
–> Missing Dependency: libt1.so.5 is needed by package php-gd-5.3.2-1.i386 (chl)
Error: Missing Dependency: libssh2.so.1 is needed by package libcurl-7.19.6-5.i386 (chl)

@wd5gnr,

I did a quick search for the error “depsolving problems” and most of the articles that came up involved issues with Yum. Most of those articles are older, but they may have information in them that will help you resolve this, such as http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-software-2/yum-fails-with-fedora-has-depsolving-problems-735113/.

If that does not help you, you may want to submit a trouble ticket through your server control panel in the account.

Do you have the Plesk control panel installed? It is not uncommon for control panels to require specific versions of packages, such as php-common. You can always create a support ticket from your account and we can take a closer look.

Hate to resurrect this old thread, but since it shows up on google for this error this might help someone out. The answer is to add the EPEL repo: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL/FAQ#How_can_I_install_the_packages_from_the_EPEL_software_repository.3F

Well, that fixed 1/2 of it. For some reason php-ncurses was installed but not necessary so I removed it and that fixed the other half.

@wd5gnr

Are you still having an issue with this? If so, can you provide us some additional information, like your domain name and any error that you’re receiving?

Thanks!

No, I’m good thanks. I was simply posting that in case it would help someone else, especially since this page pops up high on a search for a search for that error text.
