Hi
I am interested in a virtual dedicated server for multiple website hosting.

I am trying to understand what happens about email i.e. do godaddy provide free email accounts on their servers or are you expected to run your own mail server?

Thanks

You would not receive free email credits with a virtual dedicated server, however, you would be able to setup email accounts using your server.

If you are using Plesk, you would setup email by following this help article:

I am not sure Plesk would be useful on windows.

Looking at the email plans you can buy
10 email addresses @ $2.79pm.

Can these emails be split/used for multiple domains?. I will be hosting multiple customer websites on the server therefore for exmaple of these 10 emails can i give 5 to one customer and 5 to another?.

Can you clarify on the above. Are the mail accounts refered to in this article hosted on godaddys mailserver or are you saying both plesk and a mailserver is installed on the virtual dedicated server?.
From what i am aware plesk is just a control panel and not a mail server.

You would be able to use the Unlimited Email Plan for multiple domains on the same account.

You would be able to configure email accounts on your virtual dedicated server using Plesk. This would not be configured using Go Daddy’s mail server. Your server would act as the mail server.

So if i buy the email accounts as above i get them on godaddys email severs
If i go for the plesk option you install a plesk and a mailserver on my virtual dedicated server. If so which mail server software do you install, since plesk isn’t a mailserver?

MailEnable Standard 1.981 would be installed on your Windows Virtual Dedicated Server if you are using Plesk.

But there is no antivirus scanning etc with such a free software. Surely I would be better using godaddys mailservers?

As well as IMAP

You are correct that using Go Daddy mail servers, security settings would already be in place for your protection whereas you would be responsible for configuring your server if you decided to create email accounts on your server.

I have a virtual dedicated server ( brigadoon.net) The emails from the Godaddy email secure servers are being blocked. Are the emaisl from the secure server also being blocked? Should I convert my dedicate server to the standard hosted servers ?

@John A Hansen

I’m not sure that I understand your inquiry. It sounds like messages you are sending are being blocked by an RBL. Converting your server to a shared hosting server may not alleviate the situation as each RBL service has its own internal policies and procedures and can list us at any time, for any reason. Our email administrators make every effort to maintain compliance with each RBL service and to restrict spam sent from all of our servers.

If I have misunderstood, please reply with some additional information with what you are looking to do and I’d be happy to help.

@ddeei

The steps will differ depending on your control panel. You can see an example for setting up a domain within Plesk:

Setting up a Domain in Parallels Plesk Panel

If you run into any difficulty, you can contact our Sever Support Team by creating a Trouble Ticket.
