FIrewall Ports
IanC22 said 2 years, 3 months ago:
Hi Ppl,
I’m banging my head against a wall here… I’ve configured Window Firewall to allow connections through a specific port. I’ve checked that it applied to all profiles, i.e. domina, private and public. The rule is enabled.
Computer says no!
Any advice?
Thanks in advance,
Ian

@IanC22
Do you have the Cisco PIX 501 external firewall on your server too? If so, you’ll also want to set up a firewall rule in the Cisco PIX as well. Check out this article for more information:

If not, I’d recommend contacting our server support directly so we can take a look at your Virtual Server directly. You can contact them through the methods here:

Hi David,
Thanks for the info. I am not aware of any firewall apart from what is shipped with Windows, so I assume not.
I did try communicating via Live Chat but have just been directed to search the web (which I did, and recreated the rule step-by-step as per Microsoft’s guidance, which BTW is exactly how I did it in the first place)…
I have since created a trouble ticket so hopefully someone there can shed more light.

@IanC22,
Have you received a resolution to this matter from our Server Support team?

Hi Christopher,
I did in fact, thank you!
I configured the TCP/IP setting for a specific SQL Instance to use a specific port. Using Configuration Manager I set the TCP/IP properties for the specific IP address i.e. IP1 to the port but it got overridden by the IPALL settings at the end of the list.
Painful!

I dont see this option in the specs or as a addon. What is it?

@Mav
This is only an add-on on a dedicated server. It will not be available for virtual dedicated servers.

leticiag said 7 months, 3 weeks ago:
@cesar_agosto
Saludos!
