When my hosting plan expired I thought of renewing it for more three months, so I was looking for coupons in Google in order to renew it for less price.. However, what I did is buying a new hosting plan for three months, so I asked the support team to move my current plan to the new one that I bought by mistaken. They told me: ” In order for us to do that, you need to cancel your current plan”
I cancelled it, but before doing that I downloaded my website but I forgot downloading the backup for my database, though I was trying to do that long time ago, but their system is weird I couldn’t find how to do that, now they didn’t refund half of my money back and are asking me for $150 as a restore charge…

@b7ri

To backup your databases in the future, you can use this article depending on which type of database you are using:

Backing up and Restoring MySQL or MSSQL Databases

We do charge a restore fee to recover data or content from canceled hosting plans and are unable to waive this fee. Any refund requests and billing inquires will need to be addressed by our Billing department by contacting billing@godaddy.com or 480-505-8855.

But the thing is,

When I created a new plan, I asked the support staff to move my whole website to the new plan, and then I cancel the old one. This is not my fault.

Please help me!

Similar thing happened to me too… their expiration emails went to spam folder and they never called me about renewal even though it was set in my user options. Here comes the $150 “restoration” fee that is 5-10 minutes worth of work for them. With such predatory policies it was an easy choice for me: I got a new host.

Same thing just happened to me, I went on a trip and forgot my hosting service was going to spire about 2 weeks ago, they told me the service just got cancelled 3 days ago and now I have to pay $150 to restore it (AND IT WAS A YEAR I PAID FOR IT, AS WELL HAVE PAID AL OT OF SERVICES MORE), I had a local backup but not so recent unfortunately, now I want to move to another provider since they won’t waive the fee even if I renew, so bad costumer service indeed.

same thing happened to me some time ago. I just had to spend a lot of rebuilding. As someone who works in I.T. and restores databases all the time…I’m no paying someone $150 to make a few mouse clicks…

I missed paying $8 hosting by just a few hours and you have erased all my data. It was very drastic to just loose all my websites and data in a heartbeat. I’d like to try to avoid the $150 fee. I have been with you for 3 years or perhaps more, I just think this is a very expensive fee that I don’t have the capacity to pay. What gives?
