access denied php cron job

I am using a cron job to update the contents of an XML file daily. The cron job will call a php script, the php script reads figures out the day of the week and then copies an XML file to the correct URL. However, I receive this error:
<b>Warning</b>: file_get_contents(http://example.com/thurs.xml) [function.file-get-contents]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.0 403 Forbidden
in <b>/home/content/77/8761477/html/refreshXML.php</b> on line <b>7</b>
I tried changing the permissions, but that doesn’t seem to work. Any other thoughts?
