Advertising Credits No Good
vinson44 said 1 year ago:
My advertising credit for Facebook was no good. Following the links provided by Godaddy to redeem my coupon I was never asked to input my code. I assumed since I clicked on the button that said “redeem now” which triggered a new button that said “sign up now” that was a hyperlink to a Facebook page called “create an add”, I did not need to enter a coupon code.
Furthermore, following up with how this happened, I called GoDaddy and they pointed the finger to Facebook and told me I should have read the “How to redeem your Facebook coupon code”. Following up with this, I found the instructions Godaddy provided (copied and pasted) but Step # 10 was never presented to me.
This should be fixed as it misleads a consumer to believe they are getting a credit and.. wait for it.. I would like a refund too!
To Redeem Your Facebook Credit
1. Log in to the Account Manager.
2. Go to the Payments tab, and then click Advertising Credits.
3. If you have purchased an eligible product, you should see Activate Credit in the Credit Status column for Facebook.
4. Click Activate Credit.
5. Once your credit is activated, a Sign Up Now button will appear in it’s place, along with the activation details of your credit.
6. Copy down your coupon code – you’ll need it later to redeem your free credit with Facebook.
7. Click the Sign Up Now link.
8. After creating your ad, click Review Ad at the bottom of the page.
9. At the Review Ad page, ensure that your campaign, targeting, and budget are correct, then click Place Order.
10. Select credit card or PayPal as the funding source for your account.
If you selected credit card:
Select I have a coupon to redeem.
Copy the coupon code you received and paste it in the coupon code field.
Click Place Order.
If you selected PayPal:
Add your PayPal account, then go to your Funding Sources tab.
Click Add a funding source at the top right of the page.
From the Add a Funding Source screen, select Facebook Ad Coupon, and then paste the coupon code you received into the coupon code field.
Click Submit.

@vinson44,
The details to redeem the ad credit from Facebook are provided to us by Facebook. The ad credits must be applied to a new Facebook Advertiser account within 15 days of the account creation, which may be why it was prompting you to sign up. Our Facebook Ad credits are a promotional offer, valid for 90 days after activation. You will need to suspend your ads if you do not wish to receive additional charges beyond the free credit amount.
Regarding any refunds, you’d need to contact our Support team directly. They will review the situation and respond to you with more information:

That is an unacceptable answer and here is why. You stated “The ad credits must be applied to a new Facebook Advertiser account within 15 days of the account creation, which may be why it was prompting you to sign up”
1.) Where did it say I could only apply the credit to an account within 15 days of creation? I never saw that pasted, posted or explained in any way shape or form.
2.) I never mentioned it was prompting me to sign up. I was already signed up, which leads us back to number 1.
3.) Think this through, I saw a Facebook credit and followed the activation process verbatim (According to your instructions that I pasted) and I was charged for an ad that was created from your hyperlink with a keyword (sign up now) to redeem your coupon. Upon signing up, there was no prompt to enter an activation code. Who’s fault is that? It’s not my fault, I have no control over where (or when) to put the activation code.
I think, Mike, it would be best if you took care of this instead of me talking to yet another person from GoDaddy. I am cordially asking you to do so.

@vinson44,
I am sorry to hear that you have had a negative experience with the free Facebook ad credits. However we do have detailed disclaimers about the use of these credits on the front of our site which also links to the additional details from Facebook regarding the 15 day time frame.
Also, please be aware that this is an open forum. We cannot take any direct action over a customer account as this requires access to the account in question. Only our Live Support team will be able to assist you with matters for your account such as available refunds.

@vinson44 – You should also contact Facebook directly, so they can fix this problem on their web site as well as clear up any confusion with the terms and conditions of advertising on Facebook.

Hi, I’m having the same issue. There’s no option or link at the bottom of the Credit Card option that say “I have a coupon to redeem”. I don’t want to click submit and get charged to my credit card for nothing. NOTE: my facebook page was created less than 10 days ago but still no option to choose coupons.
Here is my coupon that I’ve redeemed.
