I was having the same problem. Here is a link to a FANTASTIC video tutorial regarding this problem and how to solve it. http://educhalk.org/blog/error-establishing-a-database-connection-how-to-fix-this-wordpress-error/ I found this video via WordPress.org forums.

BTW – Apparently this is a very common problem, if there’s any comfort in that. I called GoDaddy support 3 times and unfortunately nothing they told me solved it. I’m not blaming GoDaddy though because I probably wasn’t explaining the problem thoroughly enough.

I’m getting the same error, too. I just had WP installed, and I checked all the MySQL info in the wp_config.php file; it’s all correct.

Reinstall? Manually?

Okay, I uninstalled Wordpress and trashed the database, then reinstalled (automatic); it worked for a short while, then gave the same error. I was in the middle of configuring a template at the time.

Again checked wp_config.php; again everything was as it (supposedly) should be.

I love WordPress, but maybe Go Daddy doesn’t? Maybe I should go with a different platform?

Gonna try a manual install and see what happens.

@Baillee:

Sorry, no, I am no longer having this problem. It started working again on its own a short time after I posted this. Lag time in initial database access?

@RobtAdams

Without being able to see it, I’m unsure why you would have received the error. However, I’m glad that it is working now. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you in the future!

I am having this problem with all my sites that are running on database Wordpress and another CMS. Please fix this issue. All my hardwork is gone if I have to reinstall everything.

I had practically the same post a few minutes before I found this post but in my case I am not running a blog, I created my own php scripts which only today has given me this error after years of service with GoDaddy. A funny feeling sinks in within me that hints this could be a firewall problem. My newer websites hosted with GoDaddy do not exhibit this same problem. I know it can’t be my script as it was pretty much working fine till I woke up this morning and found this error.

@jake02020 & @don_alonso

In order to look into this, we will need you to provide us your domain names, and any steps we need to take to duplicate the error you’re receiving.

Thanks!
