FTP Disconnecting When Attempting Uploads
TeeDub said 2 years, 5 months ago:
Hi all…
I’m having issues uploading to my site. I connect via FTP, but whenever I try to upload more than 4 files, I get an error that I’ve lost connection with the server. I have passive mode turned on. And this is a shared Unix server. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
TeeDub

@TeeDub
It’s possible that depending on the size of the files, your connection through your ISP times out before the upload completes. What are you using to FTP? Have you tried this from a different network connection?

Hi,
this situation started happening to me lately (without any particular change on my end – OS / FTP Client / ISP).
I’m using FileZilla (as always).
Since this started happening I’ve tried other FTP clients and different network connections to no avail.
This makes impossible to upload one or two folders with some files in them (20 / 30 files).
Thanks

@strikedaemon,
Could you provide the domain name you are encountering these FTP issues with? I can look this over further with our Hosting team.

@strikedaemon,
Sorry for the delay. I have been going over this through local and external network tests as well as reviewing the matter with our Hosting team. Unfortunately, we have not been able to duplicate any issues with FTP access or connectivity cutting out on multiple file uploads to the server your site is on.
If this is still an occurrence you are running into with your own FTP connections, I would recommend running a packet capture through Wireshark as outlined in the following article:
Capturing Information Through Wireshark
