FTP works then timeouts and so on…
renFR said 2 years, 6 months ago:
Hello,
I bought an hosting room yesterday, today everything is activated.
So I tried to put many files (mediawiki) on my website by using Filezilla, then it stops and it goes timeout. The website goes down and I can’t connect to the server.
I go to Godaddy integrated FTP and it works!
Then I wait 5 long mins, I retry with Filezilla, it works…
And then it goes timeout again.
So I changed my FTP client to GoFTP and the same happens and yet the FTP client of Godaddy works…
But I would like to upload a lot of files and folders so I can’t use the Godaddy thing, I need a FTP client.
How do I solve this problem? I can even upload 200 files before it goes timeout, it’s annoying.
Thank you.

@rebFR,
From the way it is connecting, then dropping, my first two thoughts would be security software or firewalls within your network, or possibly that you are using a wireless connection to your internet service. If you are on a wireless network, service is not constant, and an FTP client will drop.
If you can rule these out, you might want to send the FTP logs to our support team to take a look at(support@godaddy.com).
Hope this helps,
Jason

Well,I highly doubt it’s the fault of security software because first I tried to disable them and second before buying a GoDaddy account I did some tests with free hosting services with the same client and it worked perfectly.
And I’m doing those transfers through Ethernet connection.
Last but not least, when the FTP connection goes down, the domain goes down as well (I tried to connect with the IP of the server and it’s down too).
I asked some of my friends and the website appears down to them too.
For the moment you can check, it’s down http://www.arakakne.com
As for the logs I can send them to you but they just say that (it’s from Filezilla) :
7688 1 Status : Resolution of arakakne.com
7688 1 Statut : Connection to 188.121.55.128:21…
7688 1 Erreur : Server connection timeout
7688 1 Erreur : Can’t connect to server
7688 1 Statut : Trying again…
And it keeps on looping that way, maybe in 30 mins it will work again but for the moment it’s completely down.

We have the same problem – uploading folders of many jpegs (using Lightroom or ftp). Mac and PC, we get timeout errors on every attempt – have for about a year now. Now, we export from lightroom then upload the folders via FTP (fetch), but usually piecemeal, as I’ll get an error maybe 70 percent of the way through. Changed the modem, direct connected, great throughput speed, the problem seems to be GoDaddy’s servers. Our uploads often take 2 to 5 hours. Such a drag to come in in the morning to find it crashed again.

fixing this would be such a GREAT Christmas present. Or a Festivus present.

@bartone,
Based on this issue, I am going to recommend contacting our support team via the ticketing system:
http://support.godaddy.com/support/
They will be able to test the FTP and hopefully replicate the issue, which should lead to a resolution.

I just spoke to technical support as I’ve had all the same issues as above but not help there. They claim it’s an ISP issue but I’ve never had any problem with other hosting providers.
I’m going to try my cellular’s ISP but if that doesn’t work I’ll have to switch somewhere else, a silly hurdle to an otherwise pretty good so far provider.

I have used GoDaddy for years on and off and I’ll tell you right now, they will never admit there is an issue with anything. They’ll give you the run-around, blame your connection, PC, the sky, whatever. The truth is that the FTP will drop you out after about 2MB is uploaded, or after just a few files go up. I have no idea why, but they won’t address it, and this thread like others like it will just fade away while they collect their money…

same issue here any Help !!!???
JasonP said 1 year, 7 months ago:
@trigwebdesign
If there is an issue on our end, we will post the information as soon as we can. In an earlier post, I have requested that specific information be forwarded to support@godaddy.com. without that information, our hands are tied because many times we cannot replicate the error. If you feel the answer from support is not suitable, let me know, and I will ensure that it gets reviewed.
@gmbattles
Unfortunately, you did not provide information that we can use to assist you.
