GoDaddy & PECL? for Drupal. works?
Kallen said 2 years, 2 months ago:
Please let me know if PECL works on GoDaddy, if so how do I get this Drupal SW tool installed that shows file upload progression?
Thanks

@Kallen
The PHP Extension Community Library requires root access to install. PECL is installed on our Linux hosting accounts for both PHP4 and PHP5 but it is not on Windows hosting accounts.
You should not need to install this service. If you are getting an error message when attempting to use this, please let us know the error and the steps to duplicate it so we can assist you further.

I am receiving this error for both a Drupal 6 and a Drupal 7 installation (separate sites):
Your server is capable of displaying file upload progress, but does not have the required libraries. It is recommended to install the PECL uploadprogress library (preferred) or to install APC.
The most recent installation is the Drupal 7 installation which was done using the auto-install feature at http://hostingconnection.godaddy.com. How can I proceed further with the uploadprogress feature?

Just following up on this. Did you get this resolved? If you are using our Hosting Control Center you should be able to install the application automatically. If you are receiving an error, support can review it. They can be reached at http://support.godaddy.com/support.
If you are attempting to install the application manually what is the full error and when does it occur in the installation process. Also you will want to confirm your are using a Linux hosting account.

I am seeing this message as well. I have four (4) installations of Drupal 7 in seperate subdirectories under the root. Installations were done manually and are working fine otherwise (so far). Hosting is Linux.
Message is “Your server is capable of displaying file upload progress, but does not have the required libraries. It is recommended to install the PECL uploadprogress library (preferred) or to install APC.”.
This message is located within Drupal 7 under the “Status Reports”.

Just wanted to clarify this issue. PECL is installed on a shared hosting environment, however, the module uploadprogress is not installed. As this requires root access to the server, you would not be able to install this on a shared hosting environment. In addition, APC is not supported. For this support, you would need to consider a virtual dedicated or dedicated server.

Why is it hard for you to install UploadProgress for us all then? It really would enhance our Drupal installations.

Thanks for the feedback, I will definitely pass this request on to our developers for review and consideration for future updates.

I second this.

I agree that this should be a simple, if not standard, installation on Linux hosting packages. I had 9 and now have 7 different clients running on GoDaddy and, unfortunately, when uploadprogress is a requirement, I have to suggest a different hosting provider.

Yep i agree also, this is really limiting any Drupal install, especially when you have sites that require large uploads, 9/10 people get impatient and give up, an upload progress solution is a must. Uploadprogress should be installed on every server including shared as, as far as i’m aware, it doesn’t affect anyone if they choose not to impliment it onto their sites. For a small company like ours, we may not want (or it is not economical) to pay for VDS or DSs but should still be given the option to use what is a very widely known and implimented solution.

I have found documentation of this issue going back at least 9 months now. It is clear that GoDaddy is well aware that uploadprogress is disabled but chooses to leave it uninstalled. I do not believe e-mailing their support team will have any effect, since this seems to be (for reasons I cannot understand) a conscious decision by GoDaddy, rather than an oversight or something of that nature. Can we please get clarification on this?

Too -
And why isn’t APC supported? Will have to drop godaddy and go to a more drupal friendly host pretty soon…
