installing .htpasswd file

You’d want to make sure that you are using the correct absolute hosting path for the .htaccess file to set up the .htpasswd file:

OK, /home/content/44/xxxxxxx/html is where the index.html file is at. Not good practice to park .htpasswd there too.

And without knowing how password is being decoded by how can I generate a password for the ..htpasswd anyway. Godaddy needs to add this service as a part of their hosting

From what I’ve tested I can tell you that, at the very least, DES or MD5 works on GoDaddy for password encryption
