I am migrating a DNN site to GoDaddy and need to know the steps to follow and so anybody with experience of this will be a great help. The site is DNN4 so this may be a complicating factor. I have a backup of the site and am ready to get started, I think.

Do I need to have DNN installed before I upload and restore the existing site?

I don’t have much experience working with DotNetNuke, but you may want to take a look at this article I found:

http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Resources/Blogs/EntryId/1293/HOW-TO-Move-a-DotNetNuke-installation.aspx

You will want to backup your site’s files and then re-upload them to our server:

Uploading Files to Your Website (FTP)

You will also need to setup and import your database:

Setting up a MySQL or SQL Server Database for Your Hosting Account

Importing Data into a SQL Server Database

Once the files are uploaded and the database information is imported, you will need to update your connection string information within the web.config file:

Editing Website Content Using the FTP File Manager

Locating Your Database’s Host Name

Hopefully other forum users will be able to provide you with some DNN specific tips as well.
