Port 1129 for ecommerce
adrianscholes said 2 years ago:
I need port 1129 open for hosting an eCommerce site (using the First Data gateway). GoDaddy’s suggested solution is to ‘upgrade’ to a hosting plan that is 5x the cost of any plans I have today. I understand other hosting services, such as BlueHost, offer this in their standard plan. Anyone have any experience with this issue? Looks like I will be transferring all my domains and hosting becuase of this. I also own a graphic design and web company, and need to be make good recommendations for my customers.

I apologize for any inconvenience, however port 1129 is not open on a shared hosting account. You would need to host the domain on a Virtual Dedicated server. The plans start at $29.99 per month.

this is bad… this is very bad… im having the same problems, and its been days i’ve been trying it to make it work. all the while i thought there was something wrong in my configuration. i have another site hosted somewhere else (shared hosting as well) which i created an e-commerce site and i didn’t have any problems configuring the payment processing… i think godaddy needs to reconsider opening this port for shared hosting users.

@lekra
We appreciate the feedback, and I will be sure to forward your request to our developers. At this time, you would need to move from shared hosting in order to open the port.
Sorry,
Jason

I had the same problem. My site was working last year, but now it’s not. After several phone calls to both goDaddy and First Data, I found out about the port 1129. goDaddy did suggest the dedicated server (it may start off at $29.99 a month, but what Jason didn’t tell you, was you either need to have server command line programming experience to run your own server, or you have to take their support package – which runs $507 for 3 months – paid upfront). I’ve contacted 10 other hosting companies, and ran into the same issue. What I’ve been told was to change merchant accounts. I’m trying Authorize.net – they use ports 80 and 443 (which I know goDaddy has open). I don’t want to move my accounts from goDaddy, I’ve been a customer with them for several years and this is the first issue I’ve had. You just need to find the silver lining in the issue. mine – authorize.net is less expensive than First Data on the monthly fees. ![]()

Has this issue been resolved or any updates on a solution? I have the same issue and WILL NOT upgrade hosting to run an e-commerce solution.

@kygoogleguy
This is a security protocol rather than it being an issue. This port cannot be opened on our Shared/4GH Hosting plans.

If you cannot use the port 1129 what about if I switch to authorize.net? Would that then allow me to keep my go daddy shared hosting? I have signed up with Bank of America and had the First Data Global Gateway issue… but they have told me today that they can also do Authorize.net as the gateway. Would this then workout?

@antigravity
Yes, you can use Authorize.net as your merchant. if you are receiving any errors, please post them.

@JasonP…. can you tell me if port 1129 is still blocked? I just spoke with someone from your tech support and after several minutes of checking he said that he does NOT show 1129 as being on the blocked list anymore.
I haven’t tested yet to verify if that is the case.

Just wanted to touch base with you and see if you had tested the port yet. Keep us posted,
