Problems uploading files to hosting
wldwil said 1 year ago:
I am trying to upload files to my site. I have a software I have used for years with little incident and also Filezilla. This past week, I get timed out and occasional 12029 errors. There is not a problem connecting, but after about 20 files load, every uploader I use times out.
I have now tried uploading with 3 different computers and am getting the same results.
I am not sure if it is related, but the same time this problem started, I noticed that in the hosting control panel under Content, the Java FTP Client no longer functions either. All that shows up is the box of information with the starting text, “FTP Program”. Java is not even making an attempt.
I spoke with live support two days in a row, but cannot resolve these issues. I am a reseller of your products and have used your hosting for many years. I am a full time website builder. This is having a serious effect on my ability to do business. I appreciate you help and hope to hear from you soon.
Thank You,
Bill Koehne

@wldwil
Were you always connecting from the same Network or ISP? The issue you might be encountering might be related to your local network or ISP. You might want to try Zipping the files you are trying to upload, upload the .zip file, and then unarchive the .zip file once it is uploaded. This can sometimes work around connectivity issues when uploading files. Information on how to unarchive a .zip file can be reviewed in this article:

Hi Gary,
I am using the same network and ISP. I have a home based office that I have used for many years. It is the reason I have 3 computers available for trying issues. I trial hosted a couple sites last night to confirm that uploading to other servers is not an issue.
The last site I was uploading is at Rickabyart.com. This is a very small, simple, affordable website that should zip right through.
Because I am a web developer, I sometimes upload or reupload a couple websites a day and if I am checking edits, it can be 5-6 times in one day. To zip a file, load it and unzip it every time is a time burner. If this is a temporary solution, I can try it. But it is having a direct impact on what I do and how I try to make a living.
The issue only began in the last few days. I am traveling 50 miles to see a client and I will bring my laptop to try and upload off their wireless server as an additional way to track down the issue.
I do appreciate your reply, but we need to find a permanent solution.
Thanks,
Bill

Gary,
Why don’t we put the issue on hold until Monday or Tuesday. I had to contact support on a separate question about registration information and SSL. While speaking to them, they rechecked this situation and there was a ‘known’ issue now going on.
You guys are pretty good and getting those taken care of. Since it is now hopefully known and not unknown, it can be solved. I will check back in by Tuesday with hopefully positive news.
Thanks

I just tried this morning and everything flies again!
I wonder if the Tech guys think some people are nuts? (Of course some are)
But with testing on multiple computers I knew there was something up. I am grateful they got it fixed. It is difficult to not get antsy and nervous when there is a large impact on one’s business.
Thank your team for me,
Bill
