Process get killed by system
advaitraut said 1 year, 9 months ago:
I have Linux with shared legacy hosting.
I have enabled SSH and hence able to execute utilities.
The problem I am facing is when I start ANY process on the host from command line,
the system(or os) TERMinates the process after some time (appx 5 mins).
How should I stop the process being killed ?
Its creating lot of problems to me.

Unfortunately, there is going to be a termination of an open process after some amount of time. This is set in place to protect our servers from over-utilization. I don’t know what the exact time frame is and there is no changing this setting.

My process is a lightweight process. It just rest in the sleep mode for the response and triggers action on response.
Is there any remedy for that?

@advaitraut,
As @pauldc said, unfortunately, the process will eventually terminate in order to keep the server from over-utilizing its resources.
Thanks.

I have a very related question to this. Which plan guarantees that my process will not get terminated? Can I have a virtual dedicated server to make sure the process will not die? thanks

@dajo82,
You could potentially run a process longer on a Virtual Dedicated Server environment. However, keep in mind that we do monitor the activity of these servers as other users do share resources. If the process is over-utilizing resources that affects usage for other members, our administrators will notify of you of the matter and end the process.
If you are looking for more guarantee that your process will not be interrupted, you will want to consider a Dedicated Server account instead.
