Remote Access to MySQL Database
pranav said 3 years, 3 months ago:
I am building a website to be hosted on godaddy server and we need to access the database remotely using a database client such as MySQL Workbench (for MySQL). I tried to access our remote MySQL database with all possibilities using MySQL Workbench, but it didn’t work. I am wondering if we need to change some MySQL server configuration to make it work. Is there any way I could access the database remotely using a client program without the godaddy phpadmin login.
Any suggestions are appreciated.

If you cannot connect remotely to your database either the hosting account does not currently support remote connections or the database was not setup with the remote feature enabled. Either way, you should back up the database in preparation to move the contents to a new one. The information here will assist you in backing up the content: http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/3309.
Next, I recommend trying to create a new database. If your hosting account supports the remote access feature, there will be an option to “Allow Direct Database Access” for the database and you need to select Yes to enable this feature. If you choose no, your database will not be setup with the feature. It cannot be enabled later.
If you do not see the option to “Allow Direct Database Access” for the new database, you need to contact support for assistance as your account currently does not support this feature. Our support department can be reached through http://support.godaddy.com/support to help you with this.
