Hi there. Just wondering if an SSL certificate not purchased from godaddy can be installed to a godaddy domain/hosting account.
Thanks!

@teezecrost,

Unfortunately, we are not able to install third-party SSL certificates to our hosting accounts due to security issues. Sorry for any inconvenience.

You can purchase a SSL through GoDaddy.com if you wish to add one to a hosting account with us.

That’s too bad, but thanks for the response.
Sorry for the double post; somehow missed the 1st ‘awaiting moderation’ message.

Just one other Q:
If I sign up for an SSL cert for a year, and after 6 months decide it would be better used on a different one of my domains, is it possible to switch it over?

Once the SSL is assigned to a common name it cannot be changed. To assign an SSL to a different domain, you would need to purchase a new SSL certificate.

Thanks. Ok, I’ve purchased a 1 year certificate, but when I go in to enable it, it only shows my primary domain in the drop-down; none of my other domains. How do i fix this? Or do I need to? Thanks.

When working with a Standard SSL certificate, the SSL can only be applied to the primary domain on the hosting account. You will be unable to use the SSL certificate with an aliased domain name. If the domain you would like to use is currently setup as an alias domain within the hosting account, you will need to remove the domain as an alias and then replace the existing primary domain.

Managing Your Hosting Account Domains

Once you change the primary domain, you can then re-add the old primary domain as an alias.

So if I want to add another SSL cert down the line, can I switch primary domains again, or am I basically limited to a single ssl for my hosting account?

Or to word it differently, if I want to keep my previous primary domain as my primary domain, can I switch things back to how they were AFTER my SSL Certificate is applied?
Thanks!

Once an SSL certificate is applied to a shared hosting plan, you will be unable to change the primary domain unless the SSL certificate is canceled. You will need to keep the same primary domain name.

Alternatively, you can purchase a UCC SSL certificate. A UCC SSL certificate can be used to secure multiple domains within one shared hosting account.
