Trouble creating form
capturehour said 1 year ago:
Okay, I’ve been at this for days and I can’t get my form to work. It’s on the contact page at http://www.capturehour.com.
I copied and pasted the short and simple “gdform.asp” code above. I even downloaded the complete “gdform.asp” from here:
http://www.4shared.com/document/3tO0vRVS/gdform.html
I linked the asp page to my HTML code, but still no progress. I also updated my e-mail address on the form mail portion of godaddy in the file manager. If you could have someone contact me via e-mail, I’d be happy to copy and paste over the codes so that she or he can take a look. Thank you!

When I review your contact form, it does not appear that you have specified our form mailer within your form action line. In order for the email address within the form mail portion of your Hosting Control Center to receive the submission, you will need to update this line ().

Looks like the formatting did not take. This line in your code is not being referenced:
form action=”gdform.asp” method=”post”

Thank you Tim. How do I type in the code differently for it to take?
capturehour said 1 year ago:
I added a backward slash to the end, as so:
<form action=”gdform.asp” method=”post”/>
That wasn’t there before. I thought this was the answer, but it wasn’t. Still not working. ![]()

@capturehour
On your contact form page, the action line reads “PHP/mail form.php”. This is the line that will need to be updated to our form mailer as in the example here:
Using Windows Hosting Form Mailers

Hi Tim, sorry to confuse you. I have a sub-domain called “aarondmitchell.com.” This is my test site before I copy the files over to my primary domain, http://www.capturehour.com. I just copied the files over. So that line
<form action=”gdform.asp” method=”post”/>
is the main cause of the problem again. Let me know your thoughts. I appreciate your help.

OK, can you remove the ‘/’ at the end of that line and I’ll take a look at it with you?

capturehour said 1 year ago:
Done! But it’s only updated on the http://www.aarondmitchell.com site right now. I’d rather not post it on my primary site of http://www.capturehour.com until everything is finalized. But if that’s easier for you, please let me know. Thank you again!

@capturehour
We can use aarondmitchell.com for testing, no need to post it on your primary domain until we get it working. The script looks good, and I sent a test submission on your site and the redirect worked properly. It can take up to 15 minutes to receive the submission. If you do not receive it after 15 minutes, please contact our Support Team to test your form mailer functionality. If you can reference this thread in your contact with our support team I’ll ensure it is handled properly.
Let me know if this works!

One more thing I should have mentioned, although you may have seen it in the help article I referenced, is that we discontinued the use of gdform.asp on Windows hosting accounts as of 10/29/08. I am unable to see your file structure through the forums, but if you do not have this file in your account, you will need to reference our webformmailer.asp file.

Okay, I’ll set-up the webformmailer.asp, although I played around with that too and that didn’t work much better. And when you say the redirect worked properly, what did it go back to? Each time I submit a fake form (which I don’t receive in my e-mail), it directs me back to the contact page. I want it to redirect back to the thankyou.html page that I designed.
capturehour said 1 year ago:
Tim, I just put the webformmailer code in the HTML and uploaded it to http://www.aarondmitchell.com. Do I need to download the .asp file anywhere, and then link it in my HTML? Let me know what you think, although I think I’m going to bed now because it’s 2:30 a.m. where I’m at. We’ll pick up Monday morning. Thanks!

@capturehour
Our webformmailer.asp is accessed through a virtual directory and cannot be accessed or modified, there is no need to download it. Looks like I overlooked another detail (sorry!), for aliased domains you cannot use webformmailer.asp. This can only be used on the primary domain. So it should work if you add it to capturehour.com, but if you want to use a form mailer on aarondmitchell.com you would need to use gdform.php.
If you use gdform.php, you will need to install it using these steps:
http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/4914
Then, be sure to add ‘/’ before the .gdform.php path for each level deep the page with the contact form is or with instructions to use http://primarydomain.com/gd.form.php in the form action = path.
Wow, I hope I didn’t confuse you too much and sorry again for not catching that sooner. Let me know if I need to clarify anything else for you here.

Thanks Tim, although I am confused because originally I had a godaddy support man tell me that I can’t use PHP on my capturehour site, and he sent me the ASP information. Now you’re saying to go back to PHP. I guess my question is, will the PHP work on http://www.capturehour.com or not? The aarondmitchell.com site is just a test site, so I’ll do whatever I have to to get the form to work on http://www.capturehour.com. I’m sure you’re asleep by now because you worked the graveyard shift last night, but I look forward to hearing from you next time you work. Thank you!
