It just started happening 2 days ago.
Members who go on my website try to register or post an ad but get greeted with “Your request timed out. Please retry the request.” message instead.

What is the problem and how do I fix it?
Anyone else experiencing this issue

Thanks

@Best Find

This can be caused by a variety of things, including your local connection or a script that doesn’t execute properly. Can you give us the URL to your site where you see this error so we can take a look, and hopefully be more specific?

Thank you!

Are you still receiving errors? I visited your site, refreshed the page several times, and browsed around and did not receive any errors or loading issues.

Let us know if this is resolved for you as well.

i was having these errors just a little while ago at http://www.fictionews.com which is also hosted on godadday and a quick google search gave me a solution that worked for me immediately.

just put this code at the begging of your php script

ob_start(); // At the beginning of the page
set_time_limit(0); // At the beginning of the page

and this at the end of it

ob_flush(); // At the end of the page

I am also facing the same problem on my wordpress blog on http://vacancies.yuyuh.com/ and phpBB forum on http://careers.yuyuh.com/forum/.
It says “Your request timed out. Please retry the request.” It happens whenever I take a bit more time while writing a post. Earlier I thought there might be a problem with phpBB and godaddy but now I am facing it in wordpress also. It is very annoying when after typing for five minutes every thing goes off with this little message. Please help. SOS.

This timeout problem occured again while I was uploading an image in my wordpress blog http://vacancies.yuyuh.com/. It happens whenever I take some more time during an activity like writing post etc. I have uploaded a screenshot of the same at http://vacancies.yuyuh.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/time-out-problem.jpg . This second screenshot ‘http://vacancies.yuyuh.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/timeout-phpBB-post.jpg’ I have took while posting in phpBB forum at http://careers.yuyuh.com/forum. Please help me and don’t say you didn’t find any problems at least after seeing the screenshot. This problem was not there with my old domain http://www.merajobmerilife.com(shifted now) on some other hosting account. I am only facing this with godaddy account.

@yuyuh

You can try increasing the max_execution_time on your account through your php.ini to address this. You also may want to try the solution suggested by webwishmaster. If you can provide the error being produced by Apache from your error logs we may be able to give some other suggestions, but the error message you provided is fairly generic and we obviously don’t have access to your admin areas to try this ourselves. Thanks!

Hello

Five days ago, after months of no problem at all, I started having this identical message and problem. I can do everything except upload images, and the “request timed out” message is instant as soon as I click “add new.” As information, my website is globalpostcardsales.com. I live in Hong Kong and am using GoDaddy’s server in Singapore. The twist is that my webmaster, who is in Indonesia, can upload images. But neither I nor any of my friends here in Hong Kong, using our own computers, can upload anything.

A succession of GoDaddy telephone reps have been courteous and sympathetic, but all have said they have never heard of this problem before. They have pointed blame at my computer and at my ISP, which is not at fault because others here use different ISPs and they can’t upload either.

Two days ago, my webmaster made some scripting change. He wrote this to me:

This is what happen.
In your file system there are several new files.

There are.
.hcc.thumbs
_db_backups
cgi
gdfform.php
missing.html
php.ini
webformmailer.php
welcome.html

I did not put those file because all of them are configuration from web-host. If no person from GoDaddy did this, that means their system automatically set this configuration.
****

For about four hours after he made his changes, I was OK. Then, back to the same issue. Right now, still disabled. One more thing: I have cloned my site on a different server, not GoDaddy, and have no problem on that one. This is just like yuyuh, in the messages above this one.

It is a relief to know this didn’t happen only to me. I have sent the message string just above here to my webmaster. Let’s see what he can do. Thanks for reading. Any helpful comments very welcome.

To “gas”:

My webmaster has entered the codes mentioned by webwishmaster (above), but now I can’t even access my own website at all. “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage.” So on top of the original problem, I have this new one. Not sure to what extent the fix has complicated the issue, or whether the original problem has been solved or not. Mine is a business site too. I am sorry this is happening to us and don’t know what to do about it yet. Neither my webmaster nor I can understand why he can sometimes get to the site in his location but I can’t get to it in mine.

I’ll re-post here if we figure out what to do. Please, gas, will you also do that?
