Formatting Problems in Website Tonight

I’ve been trying to update my site for hours and I’m getting both extremely frustrated and disgusted with Website tonight. First, it will not allow me to paste any word formatting into the site. It’s just text, no fancy formatting, common font, but it converts everything to verdana 12pt, no matter what I do. So then, I edit the text in the site, make all the changes, attempt to save it and it arbitrarily removes half of the formatting, leaves the other half, randomly changes fonts, font sizes and colors. I’m completely disgusted with this program. It’s the same problems every time. Then, there are the moments when it just doesn’t respond at all. Am I doing something terribly wrong, or does this program just suck?

I’m having the same kind of problem – every time I try to change the text color it reverts back to a gray/green color. Often, after a period of unresponsiveness from the program my computer must be rebooted as Website Tonight apparently causes a freeze. It’s been doing this for several days now and when I called tech support the fellow was of no use whatsoever. I’m using Mac 10.6.8. My domain name is tinabishopauthor.com.

Microsoft Word uses is own formatting system that is not HTML. When you past text from Word into WebSite Tonight, any Word formatting is lost. There is an option to paste Word formatted text. This will remove any incompatible Word formatting and attempt to replicate the formatting using HTML, however not all formatting may be preserved. Information on this can be found in this article:

It is recommended that you edit and format text for your site directly in WebSite Tonight.

AARGH! How do I reduce the space between lines? One of my content blocks has a scroll bar that I do not want on it. How do I remove it? Why doesn’t GoDaddy include this type of info in their Help section?

If you hit ‘Enter’ WebSite Tonight will display your content in a manner that is starting a new paragraph, which is the cause for the space. If you press ‘Shift+Enter’ or ‘Enter’ and then the ‘Backspace’ key, this should remove the additional space.

I am also having formatting problems. I highlight text and try to change the font size, and it keeps going back to 12px. It looks like it might be okay in the editor, but when I preview it is a completely different size. Why can’t I just highlight text and change the font style/size?

People I have benen using Website Tonight for a few years now, and WORD formating is a NO NO – you will have issues if you think you can copy paste from WORD and VOILA perfect site! Get rid of your WORD document formating and ALWAYS past as plain text , then use the WST editing options to enhance and bold or change colors of your text. This should be no surprise as you may think ? why cant I just copy paste from WORD? Darn !! well unless you want to have different issues with embedded code from WORD that does NOT BELONG in your website and depending on what browser is being used to access your website. Do NOT copy paste from WORD! Period!

Has driven me crazy and have wasted countless hours on formatting issues like it not maintaining colors or fonts I want. So… many lost hours. Very good chance I’m cancelling if it doesn’t get resolved. So maddening to have a change like making something bold not stick. Makes my site look awful.

Are you copying and pasting your formatted content into WebSite Tonight or are you creating it all within the editor and using the formatting options within WebSite Tonight? While we cannot see this behavior within your editor from the forum, you can provide your domain name or contact our Support Team for an additional review of the issue.

I’ve had all the problems listed above with alignment issues. To try to solve the format issues I’ve completely deleted boxes and or html to start fresh, spent time typing in “ALL” text and still would experience the same issues. AFter spending countless hours, fiddling with font, size, and color…repeating steps for complaints explained above (it changing things back on its own)the edit page, and the preview would show different text aligned in one and not aligned in the other. Preview would look right on my computer and different on someone else’s. Would try it in different browsers and same thing. Stumped on how to fix this problem. Very frustrated and aggravated with this problem. I’ve spend more than enough time trying to build a simple website without attempting to do something special.

This can happen if you have any “Floating” content blocks, blocks that are not within a container. A container is a box with a solid blue outline. Content blocks in containers will automatically fit with the site.

As for the preview displaying differently from the editor, we would need to take a look at your project to determine what is causing the difference. Please contact our support team with your domain name and support PIN for review.

I’m having trouble with text. My table is gray and when insert or type text, it has a white background behind it for some reason and I don’t know how to get rid of it. I checked the background color and it says it’s clear. Help please!

I would advise you to contact our Live Support Team so that we can take a look at your project and determine why the text has a white background color.

I can’t access the templates, my computer blocks them completely…very frustrating. I’m running windows 7 pro with basic antivirus (Kaspersky)
