How do I add this link to the home page and a similar link to every other page on the website:

<link rel=”canonical” href=”http://www.washortsales.com/” />

As I understand it, canonical links are used to set a priority for pages that display the same content. I’m not sure how this would come into play with WebSite Tonight as this is mainly used with database driven sites.

Can you provide details of what you’re trying to accomplish by using a canonical link so we can try to point you in the right direction? Thanks!

I would also like a solution to this problem.
At the moment there are two versions of a page within website tonite. http://www.yourwebsite.com and http://yourwebsite.COM
Search engines read this as two seperate pages but with duplicate content. In order to prevent duplicate content penalties, the canonical tag needs to point the search engines to the prefered version of the page.
Like this <link rel=”canonical” href=”http://www.yourwebsite.com/” />
Is there a way to include this within the head section of website tonite? Any help would be appreciated.

You can redirect all visitors to the ‘www’ version of your website in the ‘Configuration’ section of your WebSite Tonight account. This article will show you how:

I am having a similar issue. I want to add rel canonical because there are 2 versions of the home page- mysite.com and mysite.com/home.html. Search engines will view that as duplicate content and penalize my site as a result. There is no way around using rel canonical, Godaddy, PLEASE add this functionality to your builder. I do SEO for a living and rel canonical is the ONLY solution to this problem.

<p><p>renewfloor: I also am having an issue with needing to add rel canonical..I was told to purchase search engine optimization which doesn’t do it either after my purchase..I am not a very happy camper to say the least. </p>
<p>OH! I was told to just delete the file name as a second option! Yes! I was told to change or delete the file name which is my homepage ..
