I registered a new .com domain with Godaddy for $5.18 (paid with my credit card) a month ago and today I got an email from Godaddy that $4.99 has been automatically charged from my credit card. It is to auto-renew the WebSite Tonight Economy – 5 Page Web Site that I unintentionally bought together with my domain. Now they are going to charge me $4.99 every month.

I wonder how can I remove the WebSite Tonight from my Godaddy account?

<p>I’m not sure how to cancel it but you can set it to manual renew by going under “My Products”. You will see a listing for website tonight accounts. I never knowingly signed up for this and yet they have me signed up twice and have been charging me for a few months. Never had this happen before. They will need to refund my money or I will be moving all of my domains.

I was charged for Website Tonight on 12/28/10, and again on 1/28/11. I never knowingly signed up for this service and would like to cancel it. I guess I should just call support?

Canceling your WebSite Tonight® account will delete all of your website files that you have stored on our servers. Be sure that you have copies of any files you want to keep before you cancel your account.

To Cancel Your WebSite Tonight Account
Log in to your Account Manager.
In the My Products section, select WebSite Tonight.
From the WebSite Tonight/InstantPage pod, click the account you want to cancel. The account window displays.
From the Edit Account Details tab, click Cancel this account. The Confirm Account Change window displays.
Click Cancel Account.

NOTE: It can take up to 24 hours for the domain name to be available for use again after you cancel your WebSite Tonight account.

Well that is really annoying since I just setup my website a few minutes ago and I cannot use it for hours because of the stupid Website tonight option.

Go Daddy, Website Tonight sucks for most people and it should be clear that this is not just a temporary page setup as a placeholder for your real site, but rather a website creation tool that your domain gets locked to.

@guerreiros

Please keep in mind that any hosted product such as hosting, WebSite Tonight, Quick Blogcast, etc., will associate the domain name to the product and the process for removing the domain will be the same regardless of the original hosted product.

I found the article that godaddy provided to cancel the website tonight feature to be easy to follow….not sure if they rewrote it after seeing all the complaints up in these support forums.

@tokz20

If you choose to cancel your WebSite Tonight package, you will be eligible for a refund of the unused time remaining. The refund cannot be applied to the registration of a domain. Once the product is canceled, you will need to contact our Support Team directly to request the refund.

@simen

Keep in mind that WebSite Tonight does not offer FTP access. The previous article I sent was the walk through on canceling the product. What part are you having issue with? Let us know any errors that you are encountering.

I signed up for website tonight not knowing that it would replace my homepage that I already created. checked the webserver and my homepage file is still there, but when I enter my URL it takes me to the website tonight page that was created. I research and cancelled the website tonight account.
Can someone please tell me how long does it take to process and afterwards if my URL will point back to my original homepage that I created?
