Are there any pitfalls I should know about? Are there any tools to make the process as transparent as possible?

@jon_callihan

It is not possible to import a site from another development tool into WebSite Tonight. When moving to WebSite Tonight, you would need to rebuild the site within WebSite Tonight.

If you are looking to prevent downtime, you can setup your WebSite tonight and design your site while your domain name still points to the iWeb site. Once you finish building the site, you could then update the domain name to point to your WebSite Tonight plan.

@jon_callihan – Gary A offered great advice on actually migrating the site. Keep in mind there is no such thing as a “one-size-fits-all” site builder. So you can post more details on what you need in the site builder, and the web address of the existing site if possible to get more details on how WST would fit your needs.

Website Tonight is Go Daddy’s web builder. Subscribe to “Website Hosting” instead of Website tonight.
You can directly upload from iweb since website hosting supports ftp uploads.

Thanks for the follow up information. If the site is built with HTML files and you already have those HTML files, you could upload them to a Web Hosting plan instead of building a new site with WebSite Tonight.
