I want to use my own background images and navigation buttons, and put them in the same location for each page of my site. I don’t want to use any templates at this time.

Is there a way to prevent all the buttons and background images from reloading when the user clicks a button to another page on my site? Thanks.

When a visitor is directed to a different page of your site, the contents of the new page will have to be loaded. If you want to create your own navigation menu, you can use a custom content block.

At this time, you are unable to ‘share’ a custom content block between pages so you would need to add the navigation menu to each page. If you happen to add the navigation menu to one of the default content blocks, you can use this article to shared the content block between your pages.

There are only a few images being used and they aren’t that large (maybe 150kb in size apiece). If the user’s web browser has caching or temporary internet files enabled, does this help prevent the images from reloading, since the broswer ‘remembers’ the content? I just don’t want the user to have to keep reloading the larger images in case they have a slow connection.

Yes, depending on the settings in place, browsers can cache website information so the visitor does not have to re-download images from the websites they had recently visited the site.

If I apply a background image that affects all pages on my site, will the background image reload with each page clicked to?

If the browser does not load the image from its cache, visitors will download all of the contents of the new page. Are you currently having issues with the load time of your site? Feel free to post the URL in question if you’d like us to take a look.
