My biggest complaint about GoDaddy is that finding solutions is soooo convoluted and difficult to locate. I can’t be the only one who feels this way. But, I digress. I’ve been hunting and pecking for an EASY answer to this question. How do I install wordpress to multiple domains hosted in a single account?

Wordpress was initially installed to the first domain I purchased which is also, incidentally, the name of the host account as well. Have I installed wordpress to all other domain names when I just installed the wordpress upgrade to my first domain? OR…must I install wordpress to each individual domain. When I do that, I get an error message that says, “Path is already in use by another application install.”

It is not clear to my what I’m “supposed” to be doing and as I already stated, I find the information difficult to even locate, much less understand when I read through it all.

Please. Are there not STEP BY STEP instructions somewhere? Help please (my apologies for the snark. I’m frustrated.)

Thank you in advance for the help!

It is possible to use WordPress on multiple domain names on the same hosting account. First, you will want to ensure that you are using a Deluxe or Unlimited Linux hosting plan. You will then want to add domain names to your hosting account, and ensure that you specify a unique path (folder) for each domain name. Additional information on adding domain names to your hosting plan can be found here:

http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/4688

Once the domain names are added, you can then proceed with installing WordPress on the additional domains. When installing WordPress, you will want to ensure that you are selected the appropriate domain name. Further details on installing an application through the Hosting Connection can be found in this article:

@phil123

Were you using a Windows or Linux hosting plan. If you were using a Windows hosting plan, PHP based applications can only be installed on the primary domain name.

I have the same issue as Phil123, how do I resolve the issue if I use windows hosting plan. What is the difference between Windows and Linux? If I switch to Linux would my website be wiped or transfer to the new hosting?
