What software is installed on my Linux Virtual Private Server (VPS)?

Date Submitted: 11-19-2012

The contents of your Virtual Private Linux server depends the Linux distribution you are using. Below is an overview of the packages deployed with your server, prior to optional control panel installation. Control panels such as cPanel, Simple Control Panel and Parallels Plesk Panel will alter the packages deployed.

Virtual servers with Parallels Plesk Panel installed will have different configurations. For more information, see the SWSOFT Parallels Plesk Panel datasheet at http://www.parallels.com/r/pdfs/Datasheets/plesk.pdf.

Virtual servers with cPanel installed will have different configurations. For more information, see the cPanel datasheet at http://www.cpanel.net/products/cpwhm/cpanel11/cpanel11-ds.pdf.

All servers are deployed with yum and any vendor supplied package may be added to your system by typing:

yum install packagename

where packagename is the name of the package you would like to install.

The Linux rpm command can be used to list the packages that exist on your Linux Virtual Private Server (VPS). Its syntax is the following:

rpm -qa --queryformat "%{GROUP} %{NAME}-%{VERSION}\n" | sort
