Selling Domain Names Through a Domain Buy Agent

Date Submitted: 12-14-2011

When someone submits a request to buy your domain name through the Domain Buy Service, a Domain Buy Agent contacts you about the buyer's request. Your reply lets the agent know if you're willing to entertain offers or if you're not interested in selling the domain name.

If you are not interested in selling your domain name, we close the Domain Buy Service request and email an explanation to the buyer. If you are interested in selling it, we negotiate the sale with you, complete the sale, and close the deal.

Negotiating the Sale

As a guideline for negotiating the price, the buyer sets the starting offer. If you want more for the domain name than the buyer offers, we give the buyer the option of accepting your price or increasing their offer. If you still do not accept the buyer's offer, we tell the buyer the price you're willing to accept for the domain name, and we inform the buyer that it's a firm price.

If you and the buyer come to an agreement, you send us your current Go Daddy Auctions® customer number or contact information so we can create an account for you. We use the account to complete a private sale of the domain name. Go Daddy Auctions terms apply to the account as well as to this sale.

If you and the buyer cannot come to an agreement, we close the request and notify you and the buyer via email.

Completing the Sale Through Go Daddy Auctions

You can check the status of the sale through your Go Daddy Auctions account. After payment is made and indicated in the Sold section, click the link to contact the buyer to initiate the domain name's transfer or move.

After the domain name completes Transaction Assurance with no domain name disputes, you receive the funds 20 days after the purchase date. If the buyer notifies us that they did not receive the domain name, we place a hold on the funds.

NOTE: If the purchase price is $3,000 or more, the transaction goes into escrow, and you receive instructions to proceed with the sale.

Closing the Transaction

You receive the funds through PayPal® or through your Good As Gold account. There is a $20 closeout fee for receiving check payments through your Good As Gold account. The transaction is considered complete when the buyer receives the domain name and you receive the funds. We notify you when the sale is closed. If you need further assistance, contact our support department.
