Uploading Files Through Your Control Panel

Your hosting account has a built-in File Manager you can use to upload files to your hosting account.

To Upload Files Using the File Manager

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Click Web Hosting.

Click one of the following, based on the type of hosting you have. You can tell this by the second word in your hosting's description beneath your hosting account's domain name, e.g. Deluxe Web correlates to Web/Classic (Hosting Control Panel).

Web/Classic (Hosting Control Panel)

NOTE: Before you start, click here to see which version of the FTP File Manager is in your Control Panel. This help article applies to the Classic FTP File Manager. If you are using the New FTP File Manager, see Uploading Files and Folders Using the File Manager

  1. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Launch.
  2. In the Tools section of the Hosting Control Panel, click the FTP File Manager icon.
  3. Use the directory tree to navigate to the folder where you would like to upload the file.
  4. In the menu bar, click Upload File.

    NOTE: You can upload up to 20MB at a time.

  5. Click Browse and select the files to upload. You can select multiple files.
  6. Click Upload.

Linux (cPanel)

  1. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Launch.
  2. In the Files section, click File Manager.
  3. If an option window displays, select the directory you want to open, and then click Go.
  4. Navigate to the directory where you want to upload the file.

    NOTE: cPanel uses public_html as the root directory of your primary domain name's website.

  5. Click Choose File, locate the file on your local machine, and then click OK.
  6. After you upload the files you want to click Back to....

NOTE: You can only upload one file at a time through cPanel. However, you can upload an archived collection of files (e.g. ZIP) and then extract it.

Windows (Plesk)

  1. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Launch.
  2. Go to the Files tab.
  3. Navigate to the directory you want to use.

    NOTE: Plesk uses httpdocs as the root directory of your primary domain name's website.

  4. Click Upload Files.
  5. Navigate to the file on your local machine, and then click Open.
