Creating a Google Webmaster Tools Account

This article only applies to Web & Classic Hosting. For more information, see What type of hosting account do I have?

We have partnered with Google® to provide you with a special Webmaster Tools account you can use to immediately access your website data when you create your shared hosting account. After you enable Google Webmaster Tools, you can access crawl statistics, recent queries, errors, and other information that Google collects about your site.

You can set up Google Webmaster Tools with a new or existing hosting account.

NOTE: This functionality is not available for free Website Builder accounts.

Creating a Google Webmaster Tools Account with a New Hosting Account

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Click Web Hosting.
  3. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Launch.
  4. Read the End User License Agreement, and then click Accept.
  5. On the Account Setup page in the Hosting Control Panel, select the domain name you want to use for this hosting account.
  6. Select which version of ASP.Net Runtime (Windows) or PHP Version (Linux) you would like to use.
  7. Select the Google Webmaster Tools option.
  8. Create a User ID and Password for this hosting account. This is the User ID and password that you will use to connect to your hosting account using an FTP client. This is also the User ID and Password that you will use to access your free Web Statistics page.
  9. Click Continue.
  10. Verify your account information. If everything is correct, click Submit. We create your Google Webmaster Tools account.

Setting up Google Webmaster Tools with an Existing Hosting Account

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Click Web Hosting.
  3. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Launch.
  4. Click the Google Webmaster Tools icon in the Content Section. The Google Webmaster Tools screen displays.
  5. Click Enable. We list all domain names associated with this hosting account.
  6. NOTE: Because your Google Webmaster Tools domain name list contains all of the domain names associated with the account, it has the potential to be quite long. Therefore, Webmaster Tools includes standard paging and sorting controls for easy navigation of domain names.

For assistance verifying registration of your domain names with Google, see Verifying Domains in Google Webmaster Tools.

NOTE: After you enable Google Webmaster Tools for one shared hosting account, you enable it for all additional shared hosting accounts you have, and Google verifies all domain names in each account. However, you must visit the Google Webmaster Tools page in each additional account to complete the enabling process.
