Creating Directories on Your Windows Hosting Account

Date Submitted: 2-21-2013

Using the Control Panel in your hosting account, you can create, edit, and customize anonymous access permissions for directories and subdirectories on your website.

To Create a Directory on Your Windows Hosting Account

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Click Web Hosting.
  3. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Launch.
  4. From the Tools section, click FTP File Manager.
  5. To set up a new directory, click Create New Directory.
  6. Type a directory name.
  7. Click OK.

To Create a Subdirectory on Your Windows Hosting Account

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Click Web Hosting.
  3. Next to the hosting account you want to use, click Launch.
  4. From the Tools section, click FTP File Manager.
  5. Click the directory name under which you want to create a subdirectory.
  6. To set up a new subdirectory under the selected directory, click Create New Directory.
  7. Type a directory name.
  8. Click OK.

NOTE TO FRONTPAGE USERS: Microsoft FrontPage manages all directory and subdirectory permissions on your website. If you created custom directories on your website, or you are using another tool to build and or manage your website, switching to FrontPage may cause some difficulties. It overwrites all of your directory permissions and may make your site unusable. For example, if you have Go Daddy Hosting Connection installed and then install FrontPage Extensions, your Go Daddy Hosting Connection applications will likely not work. If you have FrontPage Extensions activated in your Hosting account, you will not have access to the Permissions feature in the FTP File Manager section of the Control Panel in your hosting account
