Setup DNS Using cPanel

Date Submitted: 4-10-2013

Set Up Nameservers for Your Domain Using cPanel

You can define your nameservers from within your server control panel. We recommend using 2 name servers for your domain. ns1 and ns2 are common names for nameservers (e.g. ns1.mydomain.com and ns2.mydomain.com). Each name server requires an NS record and an A record for the DNS settings.

In cPanel, the nameservers are defined when you first set up the server and all domains that are created use the nameservers defined during the server set up unless you check the box to override the default name servers during domain creation. You can also edit the DNS records after domain creation as follows:

  1. In WHM, click on DNS Functions, select Edit DNS Zone.
  2. Click on the domain you wish to modify then click Edit.
  3. Enter the new DNS information then click Save.
