Configuring Your Domain Name to Work with Tumblr

You can establish a more professional identity for your Tumblr blog by pointing it to one of the domain names you registered through us. Instead of entering your Tumblr URL to view your blog, visitors enter your domain name's URL. For example, visitors could go to instead of

To Configure Your Domain Name to Work with Tumblr

  1. Log in to your Account Manager.
  2. Next to Domains, click Launch.
  3. Click the domain you want to use, and then select the DNS Zone File tab.
  4. Click Add Record.
  5. Select A (Host) for the Record type.
  6. Click @.
  7. In the Points To field, type
  8. Click Save, and then click Save Changes.
  9. Log in to your Tumblr account.
  10. Click Settings (the gear icon) at the top of your Dashboard.
  11. Click the blog you'd like to update on the right side of the page.
  12. Click the pencil to the right of the username section and enable "Use a custom domain."

  15. Correct problems if the test finds any, and click “Test your domain” until the test is successful.
  16. Click Save.

It can take up to 48 hours for the domain name's settings to propagate.
