Customizing Widgets in Easy Database for Websites

Easy Database for Websites offers four types of widgets for your website: Data Grid, Search & Filter, Data Entry, and Image Gallery. If you want, you can customize each widget's appearance and fields.

Customizing Data Grid Widgets
Customize the appearance of your Data Grid Widgets using the following steps.
- Log in to your Easy Database for Websites account.
- Go to the Widgets tab.
- Click Edit next to the Data Grid widget you want to customize.
- In the Fields area, click the column you want to filter by, and then specify your filter conditions. Deselect the column that you want to hide. When you hide a column, the filtering criteria remains.
- In the Color Palette area, select the color scheme for your widget.
NOTE: If you're using Website Builder to build your website, the CSS of the Website Builder template codes the widget color scheme. In other words, Website Builder matches your widget color scheme to your website.
- In the Options area, select options for how your data displays:
- View Type— Grid View displays the data table's information in columns and rows. List View displays each row's information in a single column. This option affects the appearance of the entire widget, regardless of which column you clicked.
- Sort Order — Select the primary field and direction you want content to sort.
- Widget Dimensions — If you want your widget to display within specific dimensions, enter the pixel height and pixel width, respectively.
- Click a column header, and then select or enter the following settings from the Column Details menu:
- Field Label — Enter the name you want your widget to display for the column.
- Optional: Filter by — Enter a value to limit the data your widget displays. Select the filtering option, and then specify the criteria. For example, if you select Equals from the list and type shirt as the criteria, your widget only displays rows that have shirt as the value in this column.
- Optional: Add footer for — Select Sum, Average, Count, or Minimum/Maximum to add a calculated field to the footer of the column.
- Click Save.
Customizing Search & Filter Widgets
Customize the appearance of your Search & Filter Widgets using the following steps.
- Log in to your Easy Database for Websites account.
- Go to the Widgets tab.
- Click Edit next to the Search & Filter widget you want to customize.
- In the Fields area, click the column you want to filter by, and then specify your filter conditions. Deselect the column that you want to hide. When you hide a column, the filtering criteria remains.
- In the Color Palette area, select the color scheme for your widget.

- Optional: Add footer for — Select Sum, Average, Count, or Minimum/Maximum to add a calculated field to the footer of the column.
- Click Save.
Customizing Data Entry Widgets
Customize the appearance of your Data Entry Widgets using the following steps.
- Log in to your Easy Database for Websites account.
- Go to the Widgets tab.
- Click Edit next to the Search & Filter widget you want to customize.
- In Search Fields, select the form fields you want the search applied to or select Search All.
- In Result Fields, select the fields you want to display in your widget.
- In the Color Palette area, select the color scheme for your widget.
NOTE: If you're using Website Builder to build your website, the CSS of the Website Builder template codes the widget color scheme. In other words, Website Builder matches your widget color scheme to your website.
- In the Options area, select options for how your data displays:
- Email Notification — If you want to receive an email whenever a visitor completes the form on your website, select Yes, and then enter the email address to send the notification to. Otherwise, select No.
- Redirect URL — Enter the URL for the site where you want to redirect visitors after they submit your form. You can leave this field blank to disable the redirect feature.
- Widget Dimensions — If you want your widget to display within specific dimensions, enter the pixel height and pixel width, respectively.
- Click a field, and then select or enter the following settings from the Propertiesmenu:
- Field Type:
- TextBox — Lets visitors enter their own data into the field.
- TextArea — Lets visitors enter their own data into the field. TextArea fields support more characters that TextBox.
- DropDown— Lets visitors select data from a menu. Select the menu's options:
- Add options from Data Tables — Select a data table. It's rows display as options visitors can select.
- Add options — Enter the options you want users to select from, and then click add, or select a pre-defined option from Import Options.
- CheckBox — Lets visitors select at least one option from the field. For example, visitors can select the services they want to receive quotes for. Enter the checkbox options in the Options field, and then click add.
- Radio Button — Lets visitors select only one option from the field. For example, visitors can select the doctor they wanted to schedule an appointment with. Enter the radio button options in the Options field, and then click add.
- Database Field — Select the database field you want to enter the visitor's data into.
- Label — Enter the text you want to display next to the field.
- Field Type:
- To require visitors to complete a field before submitting a form, select Required for that field.
- Click Save.
